Overtures Committee voted to recommend answering Overture 37 from Pacific Presbytery, “Amend BCO 9-3 to Allow Women to Serve as Ordained Deacons,” in the negative. The vote was 115-14-1. We will provide the grounds for the vote in our daily recap. #PCAGA
One of the beautiful things about the church is that it's a body of people who aren't united by shared ethnicity or social status, but by the grace of God. When Christ is lifted high, he draws all people to himself - Jew and Greek, slave and free. The diversity of Christ's body testifies to the power of the gospel. Only the blood of Christ can unite Simon the Zealot and Levi the tax collector in one family with Christ at the head of the table.

“Jesus’ transfiguration is that image and event that encapsulates, grounds, and justifies the apostles’ transfigural reading of the Old Testament.”-Kevin Vanhoozer
This book is one of the most academically rigorous books I have ever read while at the same time being so deeply devotional. I often had to set it down in order to just worship.
Forgive me for sharing something a bit random and fun, but my book on Anselm's Proslogion is finally out in paperback, which is much cheaper.
It's the book I worked hardest on academically. Fellow theology nerds may be interested.

“We will never be able to sympathize with patristic or medieval interpretations, or even read them correctly, unless and until we appreciate their concern to read Scripture in ways that edify the church.” -Kevin J. Vanhoozer
I enjoyed ringing in the end of #pcaga with my brothers, with @johnny_redeemed’s rousing, well-intentioned round of “Happy Birthday” on today, my 38th.
I love serving as a pastor, in this corner of Christ’s Church called the PCA. May He bless us and keep us.
