Brock Turner was fully clothed when tackled by the Swedes, but lied to cops, which, along with drunkenly fleeing, was used as evidence of his guilt. A jury convicted him of three felony counts. Prosecutors, excited about their Great White Defendant, asked for several years. The judge, recognizing that Turner lost his athletic scholarship and his chance to go to Stanford and already had his life ruined, sentenced him to six months (meaning three months in California) plus years of probation.

This was the one time in history the legal academy was outraged by a low sentence. A leftist Stanford Law professor campaigned hard to get the judge out of office through voter recall, and succeeded. (In the interim, he had trouble holding jury trials because prospective jurors would announce they would refuse to serve in his courtroom.) The judge was left was six-digit debt from a bogus ethics investigation of his sentence and a dumb lawsuit he brought against the recall campaign. His legal career and finances in tatters at the age of 56, he tried to get a job as a high school tennis team coach using a variation of his name, and was fired within 24 hours because of the cancellation. He gave up trying to find legal work in 2019 and made his bar license inactive. The one upside of this is that, after the recall, a study found California judges supposedly started giving longer sentences to violent criminals, but that surely dissipated with COVID releases and the Summer of Floyd.

Brock Turner, now 31, is a Tier III sex offender for the rest of his life, so you can look him up on Ohio’s sex offender website due to his mandatory in-person quarterly registration of his address. He has to notify authorities if he travels outside his county for an extended period, including commuting to work, or it’s another felony. He lives with his parents in Ohio, and hasn’t been able to get a white collar job, so has worked at a warehouse and in a factory. He’s surely lost millions in income that most convicted rapists never would have had a chance to earn. He does not appear to have any arrests since release from jail.

Car finalement, c'est ça "la passion" : une activité dont l’objet principal est matériel ou systémique et non humain.

Un domaine technique, un instrument, un marché financier, l'informatique, les sciences, l’ingénierie... C’est la "passion-objet" une partie du monde extérieur qu’on souhaite comprendre, transformer, maîtriser.

Ce qu'aiment en majorité les femmes, c'est à dire le voyage, les sorties avec les amis, les balades, le restaurant ne maîtrisent rien du monde. Ce sont des passe-temps, des expériences qu’on partage.

Elles se ressemblent juste parce qu’elles ne se pratiquent pas seules, toujours avec quelqu’un, contrairement aux activités masculines qui s’envisagent parfaitement seules.

Ainsi, lorsqu’une femme s’intéresse à la passion de son homme, il arrive souvent que ce qui l’attire, ce ne soit pas tant l’objet lui-même que la proximité avec l’homme qui l’habite.

La passion partagée devient alors un proxy relationnel.
