Yes, Tesla’s Q1 profit dropped 71%—but context matters. This wasn’t a “FAFO” moment. It was a deliberate hit: they paused all Model Y lines—the world’s best-selling car in 2023 (BuyaCar, Apr 2025)—to retool for a lower-cost version (E41 project in Shanghai, 20% cheaper to produce per Reuters). Strategic, not chaotic.

And despite the noise around Musk’s politics (yeah, that hat…), Tesla’s still going hard on AI—$5B in capex already, FSD going unsupervised in 2025, and leadership calling this their “biggest year.”
