Sadly, we have to report a case of squirrel pox virus at Neaum Crag in the gateway to Great Langdale. Virus-carrying greys survive but when they spread the disease it’s invariably fatal to our precious reds. Please ensure all bird feeders are regularly disinfected to reduce risk.
Bev Holt was a stalwart member of the @RGS_IBGnw committee from our formation in 1991. A generous host, he & late wife Shirley always gave us a warm welcome in Underbarrow. His was an adventurous life and one well lived. RIP @Paul_Rose@citizenjoesmith@RGS_IBG@BlencathraTim
Majestic bluefin tuna have returned to UK waters. The reappearance of this amazing animal should be celebrated, but they are being killed for profit.

Scientists have found that plastic production is linked to health issues such as cancer and asthma. Tell @State_E & @POTUS — for the health of our communities, we need a strong and ambitious Global #PlasticsTreaty. @onlyone https://t.co/0Yy5FJVYMe
Congratulations to Cherry Kearton Medal and Award recipients, Harriet and Rob Fraser (@butnorain), who are recognised for their discipline-crossing work, shedding light on the seldom-seen and seldom-heard in the context of rural landscapes. #geographicalexcellence🏅
Antoine Moses, a 23-year-old tree planter from Quebec, Canada set a world record by planting 23,060 trees in 24 hours. He’s a real environmentalist, unlike those idiots who block motorways or spill milk in supermarkets.
