It’s a problem they made up themselves. They don’t deserve a penny of taxpayer money in either state. They can afford to pay for their own damn stadium or just stay where they are. Just say no to billionaire vanity projects.
At this point, Illinois is basically telling the Bears to go ahead and move to Indiana. Whether the Bears flirted with Indiana as a bluff or negotiated based on a sincere willingness to move to Hammond, they’ve kinda backed themselves into a corner.
@jasonfried THANK YOU. My first reaction when 5 loaded for me was that the center column was too small and narrow for my screen. Too much scrolling. Enjoying the new version otherwise!

He claims the system caused late and cold deliveries, lower customer satisfaction, and a major sales decline

"Beach"
Reminder that you have to cart in the sand from Indiana to have beaches that aren't concrete. Chicagoans hate their 'beaches' which is why they flood Indiana and southern Michigan as soon as Memorial Day weekend hits.
My kids are in high school and middle school. My overarching conclusion from observing their education is that we should remove laptops/tablets from classrooms and teach kids actual computer skills in labs, and make them write everything down. Including testing.
Just a few years ago, America’s public schools were rushing to get every child a laptop. Now, the conversation has flipped.
After pouring billions of dollars into laptops, tablets and apps, many schools are facing a digital reckoning.

Look, there's a lot to criticize about the project, but to cancel it now, when large parts of it have already been built and other parts have passed the dreaded environmental reviews, would be monumentally stupid. Just finish the damn thing at this point.

It bums me out how many families have only two kids. It’s a pandemic! Do they really only believe they can only handle two? What’s up with that? I know the answer; it's a rhetorical question.
I think it’s bordering on sin for a couple to limit themselves to having two children, for whatever reason. At best it’s a cliché. We’ve attended a goodly number of churches over the decades, and since I’ve become a full-on natalist it distresses me how many families have two children.
I’m not saying all Christian families have to go old school and have ten kids like our ancestors, but as I told a young friend of mine recently and my daughter as well, you will never, ever regret having more children. You get to bring more image bearers of God into the world, and into eternity, to love and nurture and raise.
So, young Christian couples, be fruitful and multiply! It’s not a suggestion.

Because the car dealer industry has a legal monopoly on auto sales, and is allowed to do whatever they want because the owners are so rich, they control local politics. That's why Carvana or CarMax are great because you get to have a better experience and fuck THEM over.
Bizarre. My high school always planned a rain contingency to the point that they rationed graduation tickets to ensure that everyone would fit in the gym. I graduated early in January, so it was inside anyway.
Centennial High School graduation in Franklin, Tennessee was held outdoors despite heavy rain and lightning
Weather is known in advance so the caroming could have been moved indoors but school officials had a “Rain or Shine” Policy so the Pre-Set Plans had to move ahead
They knew the rain was coming but thought they could get the ceremony done before the rain and didn’t want to move the ceremony into the gym. From what I could find they didn’t know if everyone would fit
They even had a backup plan incase it rained
Staff indicated that if it rained on Thursday, they’d try again Friday and go indoors if needed then. They stuck with the original Thursday plan rather than moving it to Friday
Many parents and attendees were extremely frustrated, calling it unsafe due to the lightning strikes. They were disappointing because it was such a milestone
In the 2010s, the science fiction genre was taken over by writers who were basically uninterested in envisioning the future, and who just wanted to tell fantasy stories using retrofuturist tropes. I'm not saying this literature was bad, but that's what happened.
I encourage everyone flipping out about AI to read Asimov, and other Golden Age SF, because everything we're dealing with now, has already been speculated about.
I'm currently reading Asimov's The Caves of Steel, for the first time since I was a child, and it's fascinating on so many levels. I am legitimately enjoying it as a novel, because the man *could* write, but so many things about it now land very oddly, from a 2020s point of view.
Keep your eyes on prominent WordPress product companies. See the trend? They aren't releasing new products to buy and download, they are releasing services with ongoing recurring billing subscriptions.
They already see the writing on the wall. Do you?
Huge disappointment. Still has the best trailer of a bad movie. The battle itself was great. The rest of the movie was not. The problem with 'Pearl Harbor' as a story is that most angles just make us look bad, lots of people die, and we look unprepared. Which we were.
Pearl Harbor, a new Michael Bay epic WWII film, premieres in theaters.
It is immediately panned by critics; a large number of Pearl Harbor veterans are invited to opening screenings, but they either fall asleep or walk out in disgust.
