You obviously haven't even read NASA's history. The only reason the solid rocket boosters were used is to keep funding the prime contractors who make them. The SLS was nicknamed the Senate Launch System for a reason. The Senate mandated that specific technology had be used to build the rockets.

No one, especially people from outside of a field, could ever have a new thought that changes things that were thought to be impossible into not only possible but economical.

I'm glad Elon Musk didn't take the advice of all of the literal rocket scientists he consulted that didn't think reusability was possible or economical.
