If Detroit had a proper music economy then Artists could make a living here. The folks in charge of budgets here will fly in Artists from elsewhere & pay their full rate & expenses yet ask a Detroit Artists of the same caliber to do the same gig for free & without expenses.

@pipercarter More than ever, I believe in artist owned infrastructure. Not saying gov support wouldn't slap.. but existing leadership has had the facts and a) struggles to know how to deliver b) will always be very risk averse and behind the curve and c) keep funneling $ away from artists.

@pipercarter Also, remember when Creative Many funded reports on $$$ impact of arts in MI & found it leads in several categories, esp tourism, weighing in at 18% of all tourism in the state > sport events, hiking, biking, hunting & fishing combined! What could we do with real infrastructure?
