@Rgt71Robert@churchofengland That's not the only election of course. The CNC votes on a candidate, and the members of the CNC are elected to the CNC, and the people who vote for the CNC members are elected to their positions, and the people who vote for the people who vote for the CNC members are elected
@Rgt71Robert@WalkerMarcus@TogetherforCofE@churchofengland I think many understand why it has been reclaimed by one generation, and embraced without baggage by another, but it's just never been fully explained whether it is an intra-community word or a word that is now offered and commended for use as part of general English vocabulary.
@WalkerMarcus@Rgt71Robert@TogetherforCofE@churchofengland I have never used it and don't think I'll ever feel comfortable using it. Apart from growing up with it as a playground insult, I'm also conscious that it is now being used without a clear 'granting of permission' (if such a thing were possible) to society at large to use it.
@EvanAG1999@2D0XPS@liambeadle Canon B24 does require a confirmation to take place "as soon as conveniently may be" after an adult baptism, although it seems to me that the intent is that the confirmation should not be unduly delayed.
