Think of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” the same way you would a company tagline. It’s just branding.
When you see a restaurant advertising the “world’s best burger,” do you truly believe it’s the best?
Imagine if you didn’t want to eat there and someone said, “You don’t want the world’s BEST burger? What’s wrong with you?”
That would be absurd.
Because everyone knows businesses use nice sounding taglines and slogans to try to convince you to become patrons, even if they’re not true. All they’re doing is trying to create associations between the nice-sounding words and their business practices.
So it is with all kinds of nice-sounding programs and initiatives.
In the end, it’s just the same tricks advertisers use to shortcut your critical thinking.
@ZaidJilani@MattWalshBlog Zaid is the kind of scum that sees a white guy’s unplayed banjo and thinks “domestic abuser,” meanwhile there’s a worldwide culture visibly dedicated to the repression of hundreds of millions of ITS OWN women and he thinks, “these people would never rape.”
@travisakers “Can we get some pencils for my students? Even though their parents could easily buy them? Pencils are so fucking cheap. Literally Anyone can get 100 of them for $5. Also, I’m not actually going to teach my students how to read or do math, no matter how many pencils they have.”
Your position is that western nations must import a billion people, ostensibly to work as underpaid indentured servants, forever dependent on the state and permanently undercutting the working class’s bargaining power. Not to mention the social and cultural strife. All to satiate your personal political opinions.
Fuck all the way off.
@eW8fkgAM52GS9xW@cybelethebest@unmeltablecheez Obviously, If you’re over 35 you’re supposed to go straight home from work and yell at the news for the rest of the night (which you will also get criticized for). On weekends you’re allowed to do some yard work. Repeat for 40-50 years.
@cybelethebest@unmeltablecheez Well, based on all the Gen Z loser posting around here, acting young means never drinking or going out to party or talking to the opposite sex in public or having fun without permission. So, I guess we’re acting old after all.
@ZackPolanski Absolutely mindless drivel. Presumably, you don’t think Nazi Germay’s culture is equal to or better than ours. Presumably you think it’s much worse. Therefore some culture are much better than others. Your own argument betrays your staggering, colossal thoughtlessness.
This is the kind of person you need to ostracize from your life with extreme contempt if you want a chance at success or happiness. This is the guy who has 1,001 reasons why something just can’t be done because you’re not doing it “the right way” (even when your own eyes show you endless examples of others succeeding anyway).
You find him everywhere. In creative spaces. In business. In school. Always there to tell you that you can’t. You’re too late. Too early. Too inexperienced. Too overqualified.
He’s poison.
Sure, lots of people are pessimistic or doubtful, but this guy’s different. His ego is tied to being correct about his fatalistic outlook, which means your success is harmful to his very identity. He’ll try to prevent that from happening. He’ll drag you down if you take him too seriously.
Banish this coward from your life and get busy living.
He is already dead.
@mtracey It’s such a specific skull and crossbones, though. I played with pirate shit and watched pirate movies my entire childhood and never saw this one, with the fracture lines and slightly in profile, until the early 20th century history lessons began.
Imagine going back to the Women’s March in 2017 and telling everyone MeToo would officially be ended by democrats trying to help a straight white Nazi unseat a female senator.
Running uncorroborated claims on Platner from an ex-girlfriend who is a professional Republican operative is outrageous from the New York Times. It's consistent with their biased treatment of candidates skeptical of Israel.
@redsteeze@matthewstoller It’s so amazing that it’s the left putting the final nail in MeToo’s coffin for the purpose of getting a straight white Nazi elected. I’m gobsmacked. Bravo.
@agraybee What should we call the greedy bounty hunter who tries to kill Han Solo? Greedo? Cool. His species is like a kind of space rodent. What should call them? Rodians? I love it.
@DisaffectedPod Or pretty much any indirect language that turns an actual person into a superposition of a theoretical person who can’t be held accountable to whatever situation you’re describing. Not an individual, a part of a system.
@TheJollyChap What amuses me is you can’t comprehend the difference between a YouTuber doing a schtick and a superhero film character. Super awesome media literacy you’ve got there.
Blue city women (and most lefty men too) believe republicans literally want to enslave them. They uncritically believe every catastrophic thing their media diet tells them. You hear them loudly and unironically saying to each other in public, “I heard on NPR…” so they have no theory of mind why you’d vote republican except that you hate them and want to make them your sex slaves.
@memeticsisyphus In your analogy, the store has not created a second deli line, so the asshole line-cutter is going rogue. In IRL traffic, there is an officially designated left hand lane that is explicitly available for use. So it’s not cheating to use that lane.
@talexratcliffe You’re not a “planner” if you don’t use the system as designed. You just create your own alternative system. The zipper merge doesn’t work because people like you decide at some arbitrary point that it won’t work and go rogue.
