This is the type of crisis that a Democratic president would be held personally responsible for by the media. Instead it’s getting virtually no national attention despite the issue being directly connected to federal cuts enacted by the Trump administration
266,000 jobs under Biden:
“slowed”
“muddled expectations”
“fell short”
172,000 jobs under trump:
“upswing”
“vigorous”
“strong sign for economy”
This is the double standard Dems have had to deal with for the past 10 years.
🚨BREAKING: In a Chicago suburb, a U.S. citizen was observing an adult man in a black ski mask, who she believed was an ICE agent, driving around a HIGH SCHOOL…
…and police pulled HER over.
Not the MASKED MAN driving around the Schaumburg high school…
The officer told her she was being detained for “stalking.”
Even though, when she asked who she was allegedly stalking… the cop admitted he didn’t even know yet, and would “find out in just a moment.”
So, just to clarify…
The cop hadn’t confirmed who the MASKED MAN was.
He hadn’t determined whether he was a federal agent, or why he was driving around a HIGH SCHOOL in a SKI MASK.
But the cop had already decided the woman, OBSERVING THE MASKED MAN, was the problem.
Americans have a First Amendment right to observe what government officials are doing in public.
If this was a federal agent… documenting their activity isn’t a crime.
It’s accountability.
And if it wasn’t a federal agent… most people would expect the police to be concerned about a MASKED MAN driving around a HIGH SCHOOL.
Not the woman observing him.
In a country where school shootings are a real and constant threat to students… that’s the bare minimum our law enforcement should be doing.
But when she asked why a MASK MAN, driving around a HIGH SCHOOL, didn’t concern him, the officer said:
“Everyone wears masks nowadays.”
So, if someone can be detained for peacefully observing, what they reasonably believe is government activity…
While police focus more on the observer than the MASKED MAN around a HIGH SCHOOL…
Then we have some serious questions that need to be asked… @GovPritzker
Fun fact: AMOC collapse leads to an ice age within a few years. This isn't theoretical, it's happened prior. Humans are going to learn the hard way, as usual...
Officers rough up an innocent 60 year old man over a warrant that they read wrong and refused to double check.
Pure incompetence on display when Orange City Police Department officers wrongfully detained Harry DeCancio Sr. inside his own home.
The responding officers were attempting to execute an active arrest warrant. However, the target of that warrant was not the man they cornered in the living room—it was for his son, Harry DeCancio Jr.
Despite a massive generation gap, the officers completely abandoned standard identity verification protocols. Harry DeCancio Sr. was born in 1962, making him over 60 years old at the time of the incident. The warrant on the officers' mobile data terminals explicitly detailed a completely different birth year, a distinct physical description, and the "Junior" suffix belonging to his son.
Rather than taking a few brief seconds to double check their info, the officers instead doubled down on their error.
Body camera footage reveals the officers aggressively pushed the elder DeCancio over his own couch. A struggle ensued for several minutes as officers forced handcuffs onto him.
This incident exposes the dangerous reality of law enforcement prioritizing absolute physical compliance over accurate data verification. When officers refuse to slow down and read the critical identifiers right in front of them, innocent citizens pay the price. In this case, gross negligence took the place of basic duty, leaving a 60-year-old man to bear the brunt of an assault and wrongful arrest by the very department sworn to protect the community.
Scalia died in February 2016. It took Obama a full month to nominate a replacement and then he used no leverage and barely lifted a finger for Garland; the party was more focused in the moment at making sure everyone understood how racist and sexist Bernie Sanders was.
Plenty of Obama aides were actually glad when Dems lost the senate in 2014 because they were sick of Harry Reid pushing Obama to be more assertive and fight more.
They lost the Senate in 2014 largely because of Obama’s capitulation to/obsession with austerity and reducing the deficit.
He constantly insisted he had no real power — Neera will probably respond by saying he had no power — which Trump has proved totally wrong.
And when RBG died in September 2020 Trump nominated ACB the next week. They play to win.
But sure, a 5 minute segment from @chrislhayes would’ve made the difference. (And I’m sure he did do a bunch actually.)
🚨BREAKING: The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) says it is “deeply alarmed” about the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) new rule created to carry out President Donald Trump’s plans for restricting mail-in voting. https://t.co/ZHYGFbkSCC
This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

Last Sunday in Chicago, a room full of oncologists stood up in the middle of a scientific presentation. Not at the end. In the middle. Brian Wolpin was reading numbers off a graph in a monotone when the standing ovation started. Daraxonrasib had nearly doubled survival time for pancreatic cancer patients who had already been through one round of chemotherapy - 13.2 months versus 6.7 months. For a disease that killed more than 50,000 Americans last year and that scientists once called "undruggable," that graph represented decades of work finally breaking through.
Here is where that breakthrough came from. The KRAS gene mutation driving most pancreatic cancers was identified in the 1980s with federal research funding. The mouse models that made it possible to study the tumors were developed at MIT and Dana-Farber - institutions that run on federal grants. The discovery that KRAS could be bound to at all came from researchers at Vanderbilt and UCSF. Harold Varmus, then head of the National Cancer Institute - a federal agency - launched the RAS Initiative when private capital dried up because investors thought the target was hopeless. The Frederick National Laboratory, a federal facility, coordinated research across institutions worldwide.
"All of the biology that was understood about RAS... much of that is federally funded," Wolpin said. "It was decades of investment in science."
The Trump administration has repeatedly frozen NIH funding, proposed political appointee review of all federal grants, and is now requiring that funding decisions "align" with administration priorities. The damage, as a Harvard School of Public Health researcher put it, will be invisible for years. It will show up as an absence - the breakthrough that doesn't happen in 2045, the drug that doesn't exist in 2052, the patients who die from a cancer that could have been treated if the research pipeline had stayed intact.
The patient who gets 13.2 months instead of 6.7 months because of daraxonrasib is real and documentable. The patient who gets nothing in 30 years because the funding was cut is invisible. That invisibility is the whole problem.
Existe algum caso de cidade que tenha eliminado ou reduzido espaço para o carro e que não tenha dado certo ou que tenham voltado atrás? Impressionante a teimosia em não reconhecer e aplicar políticas comprovadamente positivas mundo a fora.
So you’re telling me there’s some nefarious stuff surrounding the supposed assassination attempt of Trump?
You mean the one where the cops admitted to seeing him THREE TIMES in a restricted area with a scope & a backpack & yet never did anything?
The one where a bunch of people in the crowd saw the shooter on the roof but no cops or secret service officers or sheriff’s deputies or State troopers saw him?!?
The same “assassination attempt” that Trump had no interest in investigating & even shut down the investigation?
You mean that one?
Bari Weiss built her entire public identity on the proposition that cancel culture was destroying American discourse. She wrote about it. She founded a publication around it. She championed the Intellectual Dark Web as brave thinkers being silenced for saying forbidden things.
Scott Pelley said factually true things, without yelling, without cursing, without threatening anyone, in a staff meeting. He said Bilton had slender qualifications. He said Weiss was murdering 60 Minutes. He said these things because they are true and because saying true things in rooms where powerful people prefer comfortable silence is - per Weiss's own stated philosophy - exactly what journalists are supposed to do.
She fired him.
JVL names what this exposes precisely. They never wanted to end cancel culture. They wanted to control it. Some forbidden ideas - the ones MAGA likes - must be protected and platformed. Other ideas - the ones Bari Weiss dislikes - are genuinely verboten. Say them out loud and you lose your job.
The Pentagon press office is now classified. Tim Miller was threatened with FARA for sharing a public news report. Comey is being prosecuted for seashells on a beach. The federal workforce faces proposed NDAs. Pelley was fired for refusing instructions to broadcast unverified assertions and then saying so in a meeting.
The through line is not chaos. It is a consistent, documented project to determine who gets to speak, about what, to whom, and under whose authority. Cancel culture was never the target. It was always the tactic. Weiss just proved it by doing the thing she built her career opposing, the moment she had the power to do it.
Ok… so I just read an article from Stanford about AI and hiring and it sounds like a conspiracy theory until you realize it’s actually how landing a job works now.
Essentially the say that over 90% of companies use automated systems to screen resumes before an employee ever sees it. The study looked at 4 million applications from about 3 million people and found that most companies are using algorithms from the same exact third party companies. So… basically if the algorithm doesn’t like you at the first company you applied to there’s a solid chance the exact same bias/score is rejecting you at any other company using this tool too regardless if you’re more qualified for that role than the first role. The paper says it’s like planting an entire country’s crops from the exact same seed. If there’s a flaw it spreads everywhere. The same thing happens in hiring now. People assume they’re getting a bunch of independent chances when they apply to different jobs but they are just getting evaluated by the same system over and over again.
One of the craziest things was that 4% of applicants who applied to 10 different jobs were recommended for rejection by the algorithm every single time….
Cuba's Diaz-Canel: "They invented the Cartel de los Soles to go after Venezuela. They kidnapped Maduro -- two days later the cartel vanished. They said Iraq had WMDs -- never appeared. They attacked Iran over nukes -- no nuclear action ever happened. All their lies unravel."
A professor in the U.S. was suspended for mentioning Palestinians, just days after Hasan Piker was barred from the UK for condemning a genocide.
Your rights are being stripped away in service of Israel’s impunity.
USPS signed a court-enforced settlement in 2021 promising to prioritize election mail delivery through 2028. Every federal election. Judicially enforceable.
The rule published last week would let USPS decide which ballots to deliver based on federal government lists - and refuse delivery to voters not on them.
The NAACP says that is exactly what the settlement prohibits. A federal court oversaw the original agreement. The NAACP is asking that same court to rule by June 22 - before the comment period closes and before confusion spreads further into midterm planning.
USPS made a promise to voters. The question before the court is whether the executive branch can break it by regulation.
4 AI audits this past week.
Every company was convinced their data analysis was automated, accurate, and reliable because it was "AI powered".
- Restaurant company had their food inventory and waste miscounted and labeled, $50k down the drain in 3 months
- Dental office voice AI incorrectly labeled bad leads because the customer would say they weren't available for a certain day, so even after the phone call ended the appointment would get cancelled automatically by the same AI. Management was not aware of this
- Landscaping company had blueprints incorrectly labeled by AI so their orders were off, causing delays in what they needed to buy and excess in what they didn't need. $400k in damages
- Marketing Agency had outbound campaigns with 9% conversion rate (not response rate), but nobody bothered to check that they were counting conversions as any response, even automated OOO or "No thanks" responses. True conversion rate was <1% and response rate was abysmal because they were getting marked as spam. They had a dashboard with other metrics that were completely off to what they truly needed to see... big fumble.
please hold yourselves accountable for actually doing work and truly looking at the data!
RO KHANNA: “Let me be clear, Netanyahu is the one that actually told members of congress to add section 224 (merging the U.S. and Israeli militaries) into the bill.”
Khanna says the quiet part out loud. Our elected officials are subservient to a foreign nation. We are Occupied.
