To join in this weekend:
•Find a site near you, use the ARRL Field Day Station Locator: https://t.co/c87QYl6mqV
•Check with your local club — most are still welcoming last-minute operators and visitors.
•New or visiting? Show up Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning at a public site and say hello.
Field Day has been going strong since 1933 because it delivers exactly what makes ham radio special: hands-on experimentation, community, and real capability.
Sadly, I cannot participate this weekend, but maybe you can! If you do, let me know how it goes.

Part 1 / 5
Tomorrow is ARRL Field Day 2026 — one of the best weekends of the year in ham radio.
If you’ve ever been curious about the hobby, this is the perfect “open house” to see it in action. If you’re already licensed, it’s a great time to operate, mentor, or just connect with the community.

Part 4 / 5
Why current hams should get involved this year
•Give back: Field Day is one of the strongest recruitment tools we have. New people discover the hobby here.
•Build skills: Operating portable with temporary setups sharpens real-world abilities.
•Community: Great chance to meet local operators and clubs.
•Visibility: Public demos show the world why amateur radio remains relevant in 2026.
•Personal reward: Helping someone make their first contact is one of the best feelings in the hobby.
Whether you go big with a club or simple portable, your participation counts.

📡 After nearly a century of service, Canada’s CHU shortwave time signal station will end transmissions on June 22, 2026.
The National Research Council is shutting down CHU on 3330, 7850, and 14670 kHz. For generations of shortwave listeners, hams, and anyone needing a reliable over-the-air time reference, this marks the end of an era.
If you have a shortwave receiver, tune in to CHU, Canada while you still can.
For now, the United States will continue its over-the-air time services and radio propagation tests via WWV on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, and 20 MHz, and an experimental transmission on 25 MHz.
