If physical games are supposedly dead and everything is supposedly that clear, then why do publishers never publish the number of units sold for individual games broken down by physical vs. digital? Why do they always use overall sales figures?

The PS5 has more than 7.000 games available digitally on the Store, while there are only around 1.000 physical releases. Of course the sheer number of digital games sold will be higher simply because the digital supply is vastly larger.

That’s why this „80% digital” overall figure doesn’t tell us what you people pretend it does. If the numbers were really that overwhelmingly in favor of digital for individual games, these publishers would have no problem showing the physical vs digital breakdown for every single game.

But they don’t.

Why? Because those numbers clearly wouldn’t support the narrative they’re trying to sell you.

❌ They made battle passes a standard in full priced games.

❌ They locked cosmetics, skins, and even gameplay features behind paywalls.

❌ They pushed always online requirements for games that don’t need them.

❌ They normalized subscriptions for features that used to be free.

❌ They replaced unlockable content with paid content.

❌ They closed talented studios after a single commercial disappointment.

❌ They chased live service trends instead of creating original experiences and ruined whole generation with this shit

All these on the PSN store it would have been 249,94 Euro WITH DISCOUNTS. 279.94 in a few days after your "sale" ends.

This is what Sony Playstation wants the take away from us. They want to replace a free capitalist market, with that of a corporate market. Where they are fully in control of everything.

Like a broken record, I repeat:

Goof balls, don't sell your PS5s. Isolate your PS5 so others can't use it to buy digital games.

You don't have to punish yourself to get back at SONY. Just be a smart shopper and avoid buying digital and new SONY products. Buy used physical if you want to send a message.

Selling your PS5 takes away you're control and passes the buck. Put in a box if you don't want to play with it anymore.

OR

Keep enjoying the games you have ALREADY collected on your PS5. Digging into the backlog is another way to fight SONY PLAYSTATION!

Most of us already have hundreds of games from PS4 and PS5 to play collecting dust.

Just play em'!

Go offline, turn off the world, and dive into the backlog! Instead of giving SONY a dime, play what you already have.

Algunas personas se han sorprendido de que esté siendo abiertamente activo contra la eliminación del formato físico, y la CFO de Sony sale a explicar que la digitalización siempre ha sido el futuro.

Puedo estar de acuerdo, pero el problema es el ataque contra la propiedad privada que se cuela por la rendija de esos 'terms & conditions' que da igual que leas o no, o los firmas o no hay producto. Yo no quiero un mundo en el que no exista el derecho a poseer algo, a poder regalarlo, dejarlo o heredarlo. No quiero un mundo donde un jubilado justo de dinero no pueda ni escuchar su música favorita, ni echar unas carreras al Mario Kart o ni siquiera leer un libro que le regalaron, porque ya no pueda pagar una suscripción. Ese mundo es peor que el que teníamos (y aún tenemos, aunque amenazado de muerte). La 'subscription economy' es mejor solo para el que la monetiza, porque te cuela un incremento total de precio de 10x a lo largo de la vida del cliente (primero te atrapa gratis o barato, luego sube precios y capau opciones, y vuelve a subir el precio). Y con la tendencia a la concentración en todos los sectores es tener todo tu entretenimiento y cultura en manos de 4 empresas. NO GRACIAS.
