@estherzelda0514 Conservatives (at least those who read) tend to cling to Austrians like von Mises and Hayek, though they only seem to care about their theories when a Democrat is in office and is trying to clean up a mess created by the previous Republican administration.
@HowardA_AtLaw He did use the phrase “hurt people hurt people”, though by “hurt people” I guess he means people who are indoctrinated from birth to hate Jews.
@KlausJennings@estherzelda0514 That’s completely false. 40-49% of the Cornell student body identifies as a racial or ethnic minority. The Jewish population is 16% and there’s zero evidence that any of the Cornell 7 are Jewish (none have traditionally Jewish surnames).
@MrRopicus@trouble_man90 Remember when Obama made that comment about rural people bitterly clinging to guns and religion? He was hounded about that throughout the whole 2008 campaign, though he was absolutely right.
@hutchinson Morello and De La Rocha were shitting on mainstream democrats before it was fashionable (see the latter’s comments about Obama in 2008). The revolutionary shtick has always been tiresome, though the music still kicks serious ass.
@Ericrse37986@krautpierogies@Facts0601 Your Michigan senate candidate is polling lower than the Democratic nominee in Texas. You guys might show up to sabotage our primaries, but that’s about all you do.
@Ericrse37986@Facts0601 The DSA is less popular than MAGA. Not only should we not yield to your demands, our electoral chances will materially improve if we don’t.
@estherzelda0514 It’s also a significant share of the Democratic voter base. We can win races without the DSA, but we can’t win without that coalition.
You are defending Hasan by quoting a book that was banned by the man Hasan is cosplaying as in that picture. The 1984 quote you’re going with here was meant as a metaphor for Soviet Union propaganda.
My guy. Orwell viscerally hated tankies. He even wrote a few books about that!
The reason leftists deny Jewish peoplehood is because the Jewish experience blasts a giant hole in their worldview.
Leftism is the belief that any disparity in outcomes are due to oppression, because everyone is the same.
But then there’s us.
A people who’ve succeeded and thrived under some of the harshest conditions any people have ever been subjected to. Who have broken far larger enemies and restored our ancient language through our intelligence and sheer collective willpower.
Who restored our political independence in a massive war right after the worlds first and *only* global mechanized biological extermination killed a third of our population, and then kept and protected and grew that independence until, despite its size, it towered over its enemies in strength, wealth, science, and cultural output.
So if we could do all that despite having been oppressed, what does that say about other oppressed people who achieved far less?
Or achieved less despite never having been oppressed at all?
Thus, they NEED us to just be White people with a weird religion. They NEED to downplay what we’ve faced and overcome.
Because the alternative is to wonder if maybe what produces disparities in group outcomes cannot simply be reduced to oppression after all.
It might be something that really, really scares them to think about.
So people keep going back to “Israel invaded the land” and “Israel stole the land” and “Nakba-this” and “Nakba-that” and all sorts of other stories about why they justify Oct 7 and why Israel is in the wrong.
Let’s clear a few things up.
The land that is now Israel was lived in by both Muslims and Jews for a long time. If you want to get technical about who was there first, it was the Jews. How do we know this for a fact? Well, first of all, Jews have been around for about 2000 years longer than Muslims.
Not enough for you?
OK. How about the fact that the word “Israel” is mentioned in the Quran about 43 times. Palestine? Never once.
Jewish people have been around longer than Muslim people have – fact.
Jewish people were living in the place where Israel is much longer than Arabs have – also fact.
In about 1250 BCE, the Jewish people went to what was then called Canaan – where Israel sits today. This is when they escaped slavery in Egypt, and wandered the dessert for 40 years. 1250BCE. About 1860 years before the founding of Islam.
Fast forward to modern times. 1940s. Yes, there were both Arab-Muslims and Jews living on the land that is now called Israel. And yeah, there was fighting. On both sides.
After the Holocaust, the push for the Jewish people to have their own country intensified. During WWII, too many countries turned their backs on Jews. A Jewish homeland would ensure that Jews always had somewhere to go. There could never be another Holocaust, another ethnic cleansing of Jews.
Additionally, the UK was tired of dealing with all the fighting in the British Mandate of Palestine (what Israel was called before it was Israel), and wanted to wash their hands of it.
So what did they do?
They offered to split the land amongst the two groups living there. The Arab-Muslims and the Jews. Sounds fair, right? Each could have their own State, completely autonomous. Pretty good deal, wouldn’t you think?
I think it was a good deal. The Jews thought it was a good deal. Do you know who didn’t think it was a good deal? The Arab-Muslims. Do you know why? Because they didn’t want the Jews to have anything.
So the day after Israel became a nation, the Arabs attacked. 5 Arab nations attacked, in what would be known as the Arab-Israeli war.
Do you know what else it became known as? The Nakba. Nakba for catastrophe. Because they lost. The Arab world says it’s because Arabs were displaced. But they chose to be displaced. Because they chose not to accept their own nation. They left. They ran away. Because they thought the Jews would lose and they'd be able to go back.
The Arabs have been fighting ever since. At some point in time in the 1960s, the Arab-Muslims who were trying to claim Israel as theirs, started to refer to themselves as Palestinians.
Land has been offered. A Palestinian state has been offered. All that the Palestinians had to do, was accept Israel’s right to exist. To stop attacking and trying to destroy them.
Why don’t the Palestinians have their own State?
Because they refuse to. They refuse to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.
Muslim nations in this world, take up 29.13 million square km.
Israel is 21,671 square km.
Jews have 0.1% of the land that Muslims have.
And according to the Radicalized Muslims, that’s too much.
This isn’t about the land.
This is about Radicalized Muslims not wanting Jews to exist.
Can he just stay away from Texas and keep Talarico’s name out of his mouth? And what level of delusion have we reached where Hasan is taking credit for Talarico’s primary W lol???
@souljagoyteller The mainstream media? Like the NYT, which reported that the attempted hijacking of a plane full of Israelis was merely a conflict between the pilot and copilot? Maybe be careful about laying down your guard so easily.
