Standards without relationship feel like control. Relationship without standards feels like chaos.

Relational closeness + High standards = Accountability

Without realizing it, we veer into one or the other. Some spend the bulk of their time in high standards and slowly become a heartless dictator. Others stay in relational closeness and eventually morph into a spineless friend.

A coach who wants to achieve an elite culture must be able to develop relationships AND maintain high, unwavering standards.
