dx #adhd then #actuallyautistic in late '21 after meds cleared my head. this account = ND issues, discovering my sense of self, recovering from religious trauma
Relatively new account, so I’ll pin this: am discovering I identify with so many ND traits that I am often following tweeps and then responding to more than a few tweets of theirs. If this is you pls don’t freak out! (bc I would!)
@vii6es@Gravy_Pouch@TheTrueNemo@singtoconley this is 99.9% correct and I agree.
The sole exception to 2 is iPhone to HomePod. Ironic that it is superb, but all other transition options (including the reverse!) just plain don’t exist at all.
🧵//: Just to clarify, my autistic traits became more apparent once I started ADHD medication. They have always been there but they became much more obvious and intense. (i’ll post them below)
@FistFullofPhil@Mollys_ADHD I was dxed bipolar for a decade, before I revisited and got dxed adhd, then autistic.
the productive times of adhd+autistic hyperfixation in my capitalism-friendly special interest was manic, then the crash when it was unsustainable and I got overwhelmed was depression.
My dad refuses to believe his daughter is autistic on the basis he’s not, before determinedly showing us his shell collection in the middle of a family meal
sometimes what some of you adults think is misbehavior is just children sensory seeking, sensory avoiding, executive dysfunction, communication issues, social confusion, rejection sensitivity dysphoria..etc
I asked autistic people and ADHDers about the challenges they faced at school and what helped or would have helped. Out of over 400 responses, these were the most common themes. 👇🏻
@boddly_bing @Odyne_LaFee@adhdjesse Attention “deficit” is relative to what we are “supposed” to be paying attention to, when others are deciding that for us.
Hyperactivity is body and (or in “inattentive”; only) the mind in motion when it’s not “supposed” to be. Again, with others deciding
@pot8um@SewcialWarrior I put people off when I get excited about something… because *that’s* when I go monotone. Had this pointed out to me a few years ago, and it tracks… I let my guard down when I’m excited and forget to mask. Look at all this amazing info… oh you need ME to *sound* excited?
Something I learned after my mom died to soon (of early onset alzheimer’s):
When it comes to getting footage of your family on video as a parent, it’s *way* more important to record YOURSELF than to record your kids.
Here’s why:

@motherfucker753@PopBase Haha, I can imagine… it was so freaking loud. Now I have to go see Barbie while they are still playing at the same time so I can experience it.
@DavidLeonGill @PinnacleJoe@thepursuinglife Yeah it’s gross. From an ex-fundie, the church absolutely gaslit domestic violence with saying the wife should submit more. This dude’s so-called “god” is evil.

@DavidLeonGill @PinnacleJoe@thepursuinglife And one of the reasons I got out was because of this authoritarian thinking where you can force someone else to do something because you can cherry-pick a verse to make it “god’s will.”
@DavidLeonGill @PinnacleJoe@thepursuinglife The context of the verse from “it’s a literal command” was around the celibacy cults of that time where you to be more “holy” you had to abstain from sex (sound familiar?) even as a married person. Not great for relationships.
NOT “I don’t feel like it tonight.”
