With their talent, they should be angling more towards fictional horror or something other than this. Simulating real violence to the point that I had to double take to make sure I wasn’t watching Ukraine POV war footage is not the move. This might actually desensitize the youth.

@The_Man_yasser What am I imposing? How am I imposing? I haven’t even made a prescriptive argument about what should be done, I’m not even against the release of this game, I just don’t approve of hyper realistic war simulators. Even combat vets get PTSD from these kinds of things.

@death2clankers Thank you! These developers are insanely talented. The replies made me aware that the devs did do a zombie expansion, which is sick. War sim is just over saturated, and with this degree of realism, probably unhealthy to consume. But a horror game from this studio $$$

on one hand, you can go to any era of video games and pull out quotes from game reviewers that say

"It looks so realistic, I feel like I'm there"

but this does in my head cross some line. I don't think there was EVER a point in previous games where I could take a screen recording of it and put it on the news and people would believe it's real.

it's hard because all the old video game arguments my parents used to say apply here, I can't tell if I'm just getting old or what but I REALLY don't think young kids should have access to shit like this, although I'll admit this is incredibly impressive from a technical side

I don’t see the merit or fun in simulating real combat so accurately. It’s fantasy for wannabe soldiers, and desensitizing

@Diabolical_Drew Agreed, I’ve seen my fair share of traumatizing gore on this platform that I regret seeing. I don’t weigh this game the same as this nearly two decades old website, but under the guise of a game, it will have effects on people that I think just aren’t worth developing
