I’m excited to share this! 🙌 I had the honor of writing a chapter in the brand-new book A Church Every Community Needs. 🎉 This powerful resource is designed to equip pastors and church leaders with practical strategies to help build churches that truly change lives. 📖
@Timodc@LPDonovan@RepBrendanBoyle Really loved this episode, man. Great overview of how the process works and solid analysis of potential ways it could go down. Thanks for getting wonky sometimes!
@erichoke Sincerely: what are some denominations that do this well? We’ve been a part of some really great relational networks that are good at this (Ekklesia, Irresistible Church Network), but it’s hard to see much of a future for most denominations.
@CrucibleOfThght @kascat558 Pastor here. Just want to name: what you were handed in your church was a version of Christianity - an American, Republican, likely fundamentalist version. For what it’s worth, I’d hate to see you give up on Jesus because of the hypocrisy of the version you were handed.
@erichoke The @AlphaUSA conference has done a pretty great job of platforming pastors of smaller congregations from Evangelical, Mainline, and Catholic traditions. But I agree with you; it was refreshing and notable in part because of its rarity. Also because the pastors were helpful.
Teenager wants to earn pocket money for a PS5. He goes door to door in an Atlanta suburb to offer to help with gardening. Some residents get scared and call the police. The officer talks to the boy and he explains why he is looking for a job. The police officer, also a big gaming fan, raises money for a PS5. This is what then happens a few days later 👇 @CityofHapeville 💙❤️

Read every word of this. Russell Moore on how the American church is losing a generation not because young people don’t want to follow Jesus, but because they don’t think the church actually wants to follow Jesus. https://t.co/6nirB7O7aS
Disneyland Tickets go on sale to the general public this morning for the first time in over a year and many people I know are hunkered down in front of their laptops in line. Would LOVE to know what this is costing the state of California in productivity dollars today.
I literally lose sleep over it, because even as Evangelicals have gained political power in this country, an increasing number of people continue to walk away from the church each year. You can win a culture war and still lose the soul of a nation. 4/4
As I’m reading articles from pastors and thinkers like Piper, Grudem, Keller, French, etc. it just continues to reinforce this concern: some of the smartest and most faithful Christians alive right now can’t agree on what the “Christian” way to vote is this year. 1/4
From what I can tell, the decisions of many Evangelical churches that have led to them being known more for their politics than their Savior have deeply alienated many people who are open to Jesus but fear that the Church is mostly concerned with money and power. 3/4
