Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸
I know… I couldn’t stomach paying the retail price for the new one since we are a single income family. They are solid, you just need to watch out for transmission work/problems, and I’ve heard horror stories about the pistons as ones since 2014(?) have active fuel management, switching from full V8 to V4 to improve fuel economy, but can cause engine failure. As a bandaid you can buy a disabler for ~$200 to limit that risk. Otherwise, heard nothing but great things about them in all my research!
You need to read more, and you need to consume less. You need to set aside time to do a workout for the mind, and you need to give it time to recover. Especially now that it's so easy for your cognitive capacity to atrophy. Refuse to become mentally obese.
@danshipper@thekitze I almost didn’t watch it because of the intro that showed in my feed. Only reason I watched was from @pmarca saying he recommended it.
You need to write more.
Without AI. Without templates. Without knowing what you're writing about. Just you, an idea, and enough time to do the difficult cognitive work necessary to reach true understanding. If you don't, your ability to think will drastically decline.
There’s a big disconnect between parents and non parents about what it’s actually like to have a child because the hardships are describable but the joy is not.
So far every idea I’ve ran through it has told me to apply to YC, too. Would love a higher threshold to really feel confident it’s a good enough idea to scale with YC. Kind of like that one teacher in high school that everyone hated for being so strict, but now we all remember as being the one who showed us our full potential.
Just got a Claude license at work but the output feels like garbage and requires a lot of handholding compared to my personal account. Is there a breaking-in period? Anyone else experience this?
Would love to see @garrytan talk about this on the Startup Ideas Pod with @gregisenberg. Would also love to hear them discuss Garry's brilliant approach of building a natural pipeline for YC applicants!
It's working guys. This is exactly what I built for myself and what you can have for you now.
It's also free and open source and you can fork it and make it your own. I don't want to hear the hate. This is a gift!
The biggest cheat code on the planet is exercise and it's not even close. You get a better mood, improved brain function, hormone regulation, and better sleep all while looking great naked. If exercise were in a pill form, it would be the greatest drug on the planet.
@elonmusk Just noticed the change while I was using it and thought there must’ve been a model upgrade. But it’s the best upgrade I’ve seen to date across any of the big LLMs.
