"Perfection is impossible.
In the 1,526 singles matches I played in my career, I won almost 80% of those matches.
But what percentage of points did I win?
54%
In other words, even top ranked tennis players win barely more than half the points they play.
When you lose ever second point on average, you learn not to dwell on every shot.
You teach yourself to think:
'Okay, I double faulted...it's only a point.'
'Okay, I came to the net and I got passed again...it's only a point.'
Even a great shot, an overhead backhand smash that ends up on ESPN's top 10 playlist – that too is just a point.
Here's why I'm telling you this.
When you're playing a point, it has to be the most important thing in the world. And it is.
But when it's behind you, it's behind you.
This mindset is crucial – because it frees you to fully commit to the next point with intensity, clarity, and focus."

NEW: I’m not sure people fully appreciate how dire the US life expectancy / mortality situation has got.
My column: https://t.co/dBIhT9eZLv
And some utterly damning charts.
1) at *every* point on the income distribution, Americans live shorter lives than the English.
In 1958, Warren Buffett bought this house in Omaha for $32k which he still owns (it’s now worth $650k).
If he instead slept on Charlie Munger’s couch and invested those funds into Berkshire Hathaway, it would be worth $1.2B.
Lesson: Don’t buy real estate.
Today is my 32nd birthday.
Over the last month, I asked several 90-year-olds what advice they would give to their 32-year-old selves.
Here's the life advice everyone needs to hear:
Startup idea: Unicorn-as-a-service
You pay me $1,000.
I invest $1 in your startup at a $1bn pre-money valuation.
You go around telling everyone your company is a unicorn.
I confirm this to anyone that calls.
Who's in?
I’ve gotten a lot of bad advice in my career and I see even more of it here on Twitter.
Time for a stiff drink and some truth you probably dont want to hear.
