Floods have devastated communities in Afghanistan, worsening an already dire situation.

The EU is providing an additional €50,000 to support the @IFRC_DREF response, bringing total 🇪🇺 funding to €225,000 and helping more families access cash aid, shelter, water & healthcare.

Our thoughts are with the communities across southern China affected by the devastating floods since mid-May 2026 - lives lost, families displaced, and homes and infrastructure damaged in Chongqing, Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei and beyond.

We sincerely appreciate the swift and coordinated response of the Red Cross Society of China at all levels, rapidly mobilizing emergency mechanisms, dispatching relief supplies, and supporting evacuation, shelter, and medical needs in close coordination with government efforts.

In times of crisis, solidarity and rapid action matter most. Preparedness saves lives and ensures rapid action is taken.

Dr @hosamfaysal, IFRC head of delegation in Afghanistan interviewed on the BBC yesterday, responding to reports of extreme poverty and malnutrition in the country.

Supported by the @IFRC, the @ARCSAfghanistan is responding to overlapping crises across Afghanistan, with impacts of drought, floods, earthquakes, conflict, and mass population movement all compounded by rising prices, high unemployment, a struggling economy, and drastic cuts to international aid budgets.

Severe snowstorms have been hitting Mongolia all week. Temperatures are down to –48°C. Tragically people died, got injured and are missing. Some 5,000 livestock perished, causing a devastating economic blow to herder families' already fragile livelihoods.

We are bracing for more severe snowstorms this weekend.

Mongolian Red Cross is on the ground delivering help. The @IFRC works closely with @RedCrossmn to provide urgently needed humanitarian support.

Our hearts go to people affected by this disaster and to Mongolian Red Cross staff and volunteers working around the clock.

Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) has struck the Philippines, affecting over 2 million people.

Flooding and power outages have displaced tens of thousands.

Last year alone, disasters affected over 146 million people. Both developed and developing countries are impacted by disasters. It’s the most vulnerable who are hit the hardest. The Disaster Law treaty, agreed by the UN last December, can change that by making sure everyone is protected in disasters.

The @IFRC has dispatched a consignment of essential non-food relief items from Kabul to Kunar province to support families severely impacted by the recent earthquake in Afghanistan. The distribution will be carried out by the Afghan Red Crescent Society @ARCSAfghanistan.

The IFRC has launched an emergency appeal for 25 million Swiss francs to meet the critical humanitarian needs and to support the @ARCSAfghanistan's response.
