Collaborative consultants in Arboriculture, Trees & Development and Land & Habitat across southern UK. Veterans in this game, plain-speaking, love good coffee.
With fronds like these...... yeah, yeah.
Thanks to urban forester chum @MichaelSteed7 for some mesmerising NZ photos from a JUST pre-lockdown trip.

So that's it! 32 trees started the #UrbanTreeWorldCup and after 32 games, 16277 votes, lots of debate, plenty of #TreeTrashTalk, fun, learning and new friends made - one species is crowned urban champion at #Stonehouse2020. Congratulations PLANE! And thank you all for playing.
Unfortunately the same care is rarely seen on development sites where you can almost age a building by the number of dead & dying trees outside. Development landscaping is often only designed to look good until the flats have been sold!
Don’t plant unless you’re going to water.
Now is the most important time to water newly planted trees. The 1st growth season is key. Promote good root establishment early & you dramatically increase survival rates.
The bigger the tree the more water. A heavy standard like this wants 20 litres pw or 50 ltrs a fortnight.
Thank you @journeyswithem for lovely newsletter... full of forest-y calm, ancient trees and nature art projects for all. Inspiring and uplifting.🌳💚 https://t.co/5bJQSVFfrX #trees#nature
For #DawnChorusDay here’s a Ravilious wood-engraving from 1938. Eric Ravilious’ work in all its forms helps us appreciate the natural world in which we live, which seems even more special right now. #DawnChorus
⏱️Result! SILVER BIRCH 84% v 16% CALLERY PEAR. Birch has developed a reputation for free-flowing, attacking play at #Stonehouse2020 with big wins over Sycamore and now Pyrus calleryana. Proof that you don't get anything for a Pear, not in this game. #UrbanTreeWorldCup#trees
Speaking on the current lockdown, Tony says "people are now noticing trees more and more and are realising that they took them for granted before. On the back of this, we really should be promoting our work, stressing how important trees are for our wellbeing" #MembersHour
TRUMP: ‘We're planting 10 beautiful specimen trees. They're specimens. All specimens. People may think that's an exaggeration or that's a Trump term. Actually, they're sold as specimens. They cost more money but they are better. I buy a lot of 'em.’
What even?
My #DailyExercise took me on a tour of N16. One of the highlights was this, the biggest Manna Ash (Fraxinus ornus) I've seen. Named for heavenly manna, the mythical substance that sustained the Israelites during their 40-year exodus in the desert.
