A USGS-led expedition set sail into the northern Gulf of Mexico this month to examine and characterize seafloor communities in areas impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill: https://t.co/Tlsps3PZ2t
Japan undertook first ever #ExcavationTests of #DeepSea seafloor #MassiveSulfides in 2017 in the Okinawa Trough. We observed various #impacts on benthic communities and identified several possible indicators of mining disturbance. #FeatureArticle

#JobAlert#DeepSeaCorals A postdoc opportunity to design & conduct experiments on deep-sea corals incl feeding, growth, reproduction. Field and lab work, based in Gainesville, FL https://t.co/xotVqIg4N1
Come join the Benthic Ecology Lab at USGS WARC! We're looking for a post-doc to design and conduct experiments on mesophotic and deep water corals. https://t.co/svAwsyjALy
Successful first day of the @SmithsonianSMS#meiofauna diversity and #taxonomy workshop! We practiced various extraction techniques and already found lots of awesome animals! Looking forward to 2 weeks with this great group!
For scientists aboard the Escanaba Trough expedition, obtaining sediment cores or deep-sea biological and geological samples after a Jason dive is only the beginning. Learn more about how these samples are processed: https://t.co/PYKC8szqkj @oceanexplorer@BOEM@WHOI
Critical to scientific operations aboard the Escanaba Trough expedition are submersible robots that allow researchers to observe seafloor features and collect data from depths seldom visited by humans: https://t.co/1HK2YKTT8w @oceanexplorer@BOEM@WHOI @rvthomasgthompson
@DeepSeaBex At about 6 months for a 2-week cruise. I had a supportive team both at home and at sea and was able to pump. That young he barely noticed I was gone, a little more so when he was ~1 year for a 3-week cruise. Mostly I felt guilty putting everything on my husband while I was gone.
