A completely new global temperature data set from 1850 has been produced: DCENT! New methods, similar results; most notable difference is that the strange WW2 warm anomaly is all but gone. I was often asked about this over the years, and could only say it’s likely an artifact of ocean temperature data, but tough to correct in a reliable way. Now this has been tackled.
