As an infectious diseases physician just have to say that raw milk increases the risk of exposure to multiple infections, many much worse for immunocompromised people, kids and elderly people….
Think Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter, E.coli - Brucella, Mycobacteria... and more! (….cow udders are basically covered with fecal bacteria)
Raw milk was responsible for up to 25% of all foodborne and waterborne disease outbreaks at the turn of the last century. It was found that gently heating the milk to a high enough temperature for long reduced bacteria counts. This reduced infant mortality by 50% in many cities over 100 years ago. (The death rate of infants was 30-50X higher, tragically.
Importantly- these bacteria have never gone away- we just manage the risk by food safety measures.
So, I strongly recommend the food safety measures. Like pasteurized (or shelf stable UHT) milk.
Nutritional value = same although people will try to greenwash / use the appeal to nature fallacy about it.
But it’s not more healthy, it’s just got more poop bacteria,
In public health, you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone.

Carney: "Tonight, the Minister of National Defence and I will fly to Ankara for the NATO summit. Canada will arrive in a position to help lead the alliance ... In the Arctic and on NATO's western flank, Canada is taking a leadership role."
In 2014, I helped a 14-year-old girl who was homeless. I set her up with a mentor with @EFryNAlberta and provided some emergency transportation, helped her get housed and into school. And moved on to the next kid in trouble. Over time, kinda wondered how she ended up. Well....today she met up with me for an update. She's a Hospital RN and the mother of two girls. Home owner, and volunteers helping vulnerable girls.
This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. The City of Edmonton is issuing a water supply alert.
This alert is in effect for the entire City of Edmonton.
Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has pushed the region's stormwater system to capacity, with localized flooding and backups being reported in neighbouring communities. If the stormwater system continues to operate over-capacity, flooding and sewer backups will continue to increase.
Avoid unnecessary indoor water use. Limit showers and baths. Delay laundry and dishwasher use. Ensure sump pumps and downspouts are functioning properly to direct water away from homes. For more information, check https://t.co/K8qEsFjXIT

Hey #yeg - if you can share the bio and pics I put together for our sweet senior Buddy, I would really appreciate it. He's been waiting 6 YEARS in the shelter for a home. Can you imagine spending half your life like that? Up for adoption w/ @SCARS_Alberta https://t.co/InRgMgfPjL
Helped a young man stranded last night. Picked him up and drove him to his mom's. He was facing real mental health challenges, and unfortunately, access to mental health support is so underfunded and underwhelming that his condition goes untreated.
It's a cycle.
People on assistance often don't have enough money to cover food, rent, and basic living costs. Many pawn whatever they own just to get through the month—often their phone, sometimes even their ID for $10 or $15.
When their cheque arrives, much of it goes to paying interest, never mind having enough to reclaim those items. Then they're right back where they started.
The following month will be even tighter.
Some turn to panhandling. Some are sexually exploited. And some simply give up.
The guy living there has 5 children from 3 different women, he tore down part of a house he doesn’t own and the rubble has been left in a pile. There’s a fight taking place on the front lawn and he constantly tries to get the neighborhood to buy into his get-rich-quick schemes.🇺🇸
We welcomed Foster #22 Buddy today. He's been looking for a home since 2020 - 6 whole years. Half his life in a shelter, begging to be seen - and instead being passed over. We're going to do our very best to help him finally be chosen. He deserves it #yeg@SCARS_Alberta#yegdogs
