The race to succeed Haley Stevens flew very under the radar but the more progressive candidate, Farooqi, struggled to fundraise and had a negative cash balance in mid-July as the race entered its final weeks.
Final NYT numbers on Haley Stevens v. Abdul El-Sayed:
— Six outside groups spent $62 million for Stevens, giving her a nine-to-one spending advantage over Abdul
— Half of that Stevens spend, $32 million, came from AIPAC's super PAC
— AIPAC's super PAC spent more than any single group has in a federal Democratic primary this cycle
NEW: Trump is considering removing Jeanine Pirro, the US attorney for the District of Columbia, over a Justice Department conclusion that problems with the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool stemmed from a flawed renovation rather than vandalism, two people familiar with his thinking told CNN.
The president is “furious” with Pirro, one of the sources said, telling CNN that he fumed about her all weekend. They added that based on his criticisms of her, they find it “highly likely she’s removed from her job.”
