I fear that the lesson they will learn from the mistake they are making now, is the same lesson the newspapers learned a long time ago; that it is much more profitable to sow division than to provide news.
Feels wrong and tinfoil-hat-esque to blame the media for this, but we are where we are in no small part thanks to a combination of failures in the broadcast media.
I don't believe the individuals working in the broadcast media are personally responsible for the state their institution is in. It is a consequence of declining viewership. But they have consistently learnt the wrong lessons from their mistakes.

If this is you view and you are stocking up on popcorn to watch people suffer because they voted for a party you dislike, you are sick and have no place in decent politics
A new low from the Greens. And another reason why nobody should trust Zack Polanski with our national security. Not only did Putin threaten to wipe out a civilisation, he’s actively trying do it in Ukraine.
What they’re basically saying is that Starmer and the UK isn’t allowed to operate an even moderately independent foreign policy outside of the United States. That is both ahistoric, wrong and weird for people who constantly tell us how sovereignty is what matters most.
Also, on the Labour campaign ad. You can’t persuade people not to vote for Farage by listing his policies. He’s a populist. His currency is perceived authenticity. You attack that by showing his hypocrisy and disregard for his own supporters on a *personal* level, not political.
This bothers me so much.
“Why would you fall for it twice”
Clearly we haven’t learned from Brexit that calling Farage supporters stupid actually has the opposite of the intended effect.
Pay attention Great Britain. Nigel Farage and Reform seem to want to make you poorer. Nigel’s Brexit campaign already made things harder and more expensive. Why would you fall for it twice? 🏴🇬🇧☕️🫖🪆 it seems Nigel Farage wants to destroy Britain. And your pockets.
I’m utterly disgusted that the Green Party want to legalise GHB, the drug used to spike - to rape!
Seriously, this lot should be no where near Parliament.
Pippa Crerar, "Would you write off university fees?"
Zack Polanksi, "We need to look at abolishing tuition fees and bring back maintenance grants"
"We need a conversation about debt forgiveness"
"I spoke to a young Green co-chair, they just came out of university with £76,000 of debt and every year its going up, that's not sustainable"
Pippa Crerar, "Student loans are £267 billion, what would you cut to do debt forgiveness?"
Zack Polanksi, "We need to look at spending multipliers"
"An educated population is good for our economy"
"Ladening people with debt is no future for young people"
"Sure, it will be expensive, but it's about political priorities"
