On Tuesday, I had the incredible honor to participate in a historic event, the #DialogueNEXTAFRICA, a flagship event by the @WorldFoodPrize which played host on the African continent for the first time in our history in Nairobi, Kenya.

Sharing the stage with world leaders, development experts, entrepreneurs and change agents to dialogue on a path forward for Africa was nothing short of inspiring.

I spoke under the theme: “Born to plant great ideas” and for me nothing would have better captured the vision we share @Vetkonectng and our commitment to that future in addressing a critical challenge undermining livestock production across Africa.

But even more are the possibilities that lay before us in the midst of the odds we face in building for tomorrow that future generations will look back on us in pride.

My thoughts and experiences shared in this video are not prescriptive but a proposition on how we can move from where we are now to where we need to be.

My profound gratitude to the World Food Prize foundation for extending this speakership opportunity to contribute my thoughts to shaping the future of Africa’s food systems.

JUST IN: Vatican announces that Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical — titled Magnifica Humanitas, on the safeguarding of the human person in the age of AI — will be presented at 11:30am on Monday, May 25, in the Vaticanʼs Synod Hall, in the presence of the Holy Father.

Speakers at the presentation will include:

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith;

Cardinal Michael Czerny, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development;

Professor Anna Rowlands, Political Theology, including Catholic Social Teaching, and theological ethics of human migration, Department of Theology and Religion, Durham University, United Kingdom;

Christopher Olah, co-founder of Anthropic (USA) and head of interpretability research for artificial intelligence;

Dr. Leocadie Lushombo, Political Theology and Catholic Social Thought, Jesuit School of Theology / Santa Clara University, California.

Concluding remarks will be delivered by thel Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

The presentation will also include an address by Pope Leo XIV.

Magnifica Humanitas was signed and dated on May 15, the 135th anniversary of the promulgation of Pope Leo XIII’s Encyclical Letter Rerum Novarum.

We've never met. I've been on the front pages of Nigerian newspapers commending you for your economic reforms.

I know you are very smart and shrewd, and I have a suggestion for you.

Nigeria will soon be under international scrutiny like never before in history. You can actually survive and emerge stronger as a result - but there is only ONE PATH. All others will end in infamy.

No nation can build peace and prosperity on a foundation of genocide and displacement. Nigeria will only be as successful as you treat the least of these.

Pivot. Now. Purge those in your ranks who have facilitated, profited from, and/or turned a blind eye to genocide and displacement. You know who they are.

Lead the reform. End the killings. Recognize and bring justice and restore your millions of innocent displaced, which the Nigerian government has denied and ground into the dirt for a decade. The US and the World stand ready to help

Fail to do this RIGHT NOW and your days of power will soon come to an inglorious end. I pray it doesn't come to that.
