Thank you @Franklin_Graham for raising the Alarm. Persecuted Christians in Nigeria need action from the US Government. ISWAP is not the main group killing Christians in Nigeria. The Fulani Ethnic Miltia have killed more Christians in Nigeria than Boko Haram and ISIS combined!

There is this bizarre narrative I'm seeing develop that is trying to drive a wedge between the Trump Admin and Congress re Nigeria 🇳🇬 and persecution.

But especially after the recent hearings this week, it's just plainly untrue. (And isn't working.)

Everyone agrees there's been some good progress on certain terrorist groups and establishing a good working relationship.

And everyone agrees that more needs to be done on Fulani militants in the Middle Belt attacking Christians, helping IDPs, and dealing with Sharia/blasphemy laws.

The aid conditionality--not an "aid freeze"--is there essentially as an incentive to make sure Nigeria keeps working with the US to "take effective steps" to fully deal with these issues.

Which is why it's smart policy.

Nigerian officials have created an environment that facilitates mass violence against Christians and religious minorities by imposing blasphemy and Sharia laws and looking the other way at jihadist atrocities.

The U.S. government knows the Nigerian officials responsible for these policies, I have been pushing my bill to sanction them, and President Trump has even ordered military action.

Instead of responding to American concerns, Nigerian officials waged a public relations campaign against critics.

They were confident in that campaign and in their ability to continue the status quo, and I am heartened that the House has just definitively proven them wrong.
