personal happiness starts within you. Deep inside, we must love who we are. Before any of us can be truly happy about the components of our life including family, friends, career, and even your dreams, goals and aspirations, we need to be grateful for ourselves. It all starts
Some of y’all don’t have a support problem. You have a focus problem.
If you train your mind to look for who didn’t show up, didn’t share, didn’t congratulate, didn’t support… that is all you’re going to see.
Meanwhile, love could be all around you and you’re too busy counting rejection to notice it.
Stop giving the 10% who don’t support you more attention than the 90% who do.
Sometimes you don’t need a new hometown. You need a new mindset.
Did you know that while you sleep, there is a dishwasher running in your brain?
I’m a retired brain surgeon and if you just give me a couple minutes of your time, I can explain the importance of this to you.
You see, just like dishes get dirty during the day and need to be run through the dishwasher, your brain accumulates waste products that need to be removed each day for optimal brain health.
This removal occurs each night through a fluid exchange system in the brain called the glymphatic system.
It is actually a garbage removal system for our brain that is not very active during the day but is very active at night especially during stage 3 deep sleep.
It helps clear out metabolic waste like toxins, protein and cellular debris that accumulate and can harm your brain.
That’s why sleep is so very important because if you don’t get enough sleep then waste products build up and prevent your brain from functioning optimally.
And with time and constant lack of sleep, the build up of these toxins and metabolic wastes including abnormal proteins can hurt your brain and have even been linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
The good news is there are actual steps that you can take to improve the functioning of your glymphatic system and your brain.
Here are four of them:
Firstly, Optimize Stage 3 Deep Sleep.
You can do this by maintaining a constant sleep schedule, turning off your phone 1-2 hours before bed, blocking blue light with blue light blocking glasses and by optimizing your sleep environment by keeping it cool, dark and quiet
Next, exercise regularly by engaging in aerobic exercises
like brisk walking, cycling or swimming and always time your workouts for earlier in the day and not right before you go to bed
Thirdly, Lower your Stress to reduce norepinephrine.
Norepinephrine is a stress hormone that actively shuts down glymphatic flow during wakefulness. To counteract this, practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques
And lastly, Stay Hydrated.
The glymphatic system relies on water to function properly.
So stay hydrated and avoid high alcohol consumption and excess sodium because it actually impairs glymphatic clearance
Follow your dreams and do not let the roadblocks along the way stop you. They are there for a reason. Remember, Hardship, Fear and Loss are there to make you Stronger, Wiser and more Resilient. Always Embrace what makes you feel uncomfortable because it is the one thing that
You are NOT rude for choosing your safety.
If you are about to get on an elevator and something feels off, do not worry about hurting somebody’s feelings.
Step back.
Get off.
Wait for the next one.
You do not owe a stranger access to your space just because being cautious might look “mean.”
That is one of the biggest things I want these girls to understand:
Your instincts do not need permission.
Check your surroundings. Pay attention to who gets on behind you. And if you do not feel comfortable, MOVE.
I would rather these girls be called rude than be afraid to protect themselves.
My daughter asked me to wear a blue dress to her wedding I need your help to choose the perfect dress for me at 50 years old to look beautiful and elegant, in your opinion 1, 2, 3, or 4?"
I know people who are in great shape by simply doing:
· Staying hydrated
· Walking every day
· 3 workouts a week
· Eating whole foods
· Sleeping 8 hours a night
They avoid overcomplication and focus on consistency.
Simon actually called it “pointless” and then Australian Kristy Sellars ended up having one of the most moving and cinematic performances ever witnessed on AGT.
The biggest cheat code on the planet is the ability to be in a good mood regardless of what's going on in your life. Not letting external events dictate how you feel is a skill we can learn. If you can train yourself to be in a bad mood you can train yourself to be in a good one.
Can you solve this Oxford admissions test question? 🧠
This one comes from a past Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) paper.
The TSA is divided into two parts: a 90-minute, multiple-choice assessment and a 30-minute writing task.
