As we reflect on the tragic events that unfolded at the end of the Chiefs Parade and Rally, we are reminded - in the most profound way - that hatred and violence must never have the final word. Rather, words of love, compassion and care for the victims and their families must break through and prevail.
Additionally, words of community strength and unity remind us that Kansas City is worthy and able to endure even as we grieve and honor the victims.
So, in Union Stationโs Grand Hall - a historic place of community gatherings - we welcome you to pause, reflect, honor and leave remembrances. Our hearts are collectively broken, and our thoughts are with all who are now searching for meaning within tragedy and senseless loss.
On that journey, may we all be Kansas City Strong and United.
Having a dog means you are forever in contradiction.
You will have an animal that does absolutely disgusting things but within moments you will forget and kiss it.
You will have an animal that is scared of thunder and it's own farts, but will summon wolf DNA to protect your family when needed.
You will have a creature that will never answer anything you say, but you will have full on conversations with it because it's your best friend.
You will love a thing that is not human sometimes more than any human on the planet you know.
The creature will sleep the day away and do absolutely nothing for weeks, but you would fight a hundred thousand gangsters to save its life.
You will watch movies with death and destruction, but if a dog is ever in danger you nope right out of theatre or throw the DVD into the sun.
You will find it hard to relate to those who don't have dogs and they will struggle to relate to you, but that's ok!
You will have bad days with your dog where they do things that make you angry or frustrated, but years later you would trade everything for that day again.
Dogs will put you in a contradiction your entire life.
They aren't human but have somehow become part of families as much as the humans within them.
