Northern Ireland consumers are being urged not to panic buy home heating oil as prices surged by around 41% (£127) to £434 for 500L.

Raymond Gormley, Head of Energy Policy at the Consumer Council, said geopolitical tensions are one of the biggest influencers of oil prices, with one Belfast supplier reporting being inundated with calls as crude oil jumped from $80 to $100 per barrel.
