In case the role of drug user liberation in abolitionist or revolutionary movements is unclear: ‘addiction’ treatment is a harmful, carceral system and the idea that anyone whose drug use is criminalized somehow needs to engage with it is a prohibitionist myth
@ZoeDodd @Diana_C_McNally Okay but whyyy reading that article did I get this very much not a real survey, fear mongering donation link ad for the conservatives. 🤮
@RippleCory@ProfessorK2022 @canadianpork22 @CarymaRules@JustinTrudeau actually bail is not granted for murder charges except in exceptional circumstances and if in those very rare cases they breached bail im sure they wouldn’t get another chance but keep on making shit up
@drupjohn@Elise_ekd@vote_alvarez And many many, many people on ODSP are struggling… Especially with the rates not increasing with inflation and cost of living over the years (and especially rent, especially in Toronto). Perhaps believe them instead of focusing on your own circumstances exclusively.
@FrugalMomTweets @nilikm@OttawaHealth there is a very faint second line, if the line shows up no matter how faint it’s still positive (much like a pregnancy test)
@Methadone_Cat maybe it’s because if they underfill our scripts we arent believed and have to go without. youre damn right i’m gonna hold onto any extra i can get my hands on for emergencies like most others on medication are afforded the privilege of having
@ZoeDodd Me too. It was pretty difficult, and of course ended with some awful police treatment just in case it isn’t traumatizing enough going through that 🙃 But yeah this really scares me, especially calls for overdoses without access to naloxone. People will die.
@ZoeDodd A couple weeks ago I almost lost a loved one waiting on an ambulance. They were too rigid for CPR and had been blue for 10 mins and I was alone trying my best without O2. I can’t imagine being told in that situation there was no EMS available to come. 10 mins was eternity already
@davdlow@sophiaphotos I’ll say this, I have responded to hundreds of overdoses in a huge variety of settings and circumstances and I have never had a situation where someone came to agitated and violent. It’s a myth they like to use to justify sending police to and criminalizing od calls.
@Methadone_Cat Breakaway has some great programs that offer one-on-one harm reduction counselors. It’s Parkdale based but for some of the programs the counselor will come meet you out in community/wherever you need them to meet you at.
@GillianKolla My friend got “misuse of park bench” once in Montreal for sitting on the back of the bench. It’s especially awful in provinces where unpaid tickets turn into warrants.
The province has released new standards for supervised consumption services. Operators will now need to follow rules set out in the "Recovery-oriented Overdose Prevention Services Guide," in addition to existing Health Canada guidelines. #ableg#abpoli https://t.co/hmsNKCADV9
