This is the exact reason I think why retainers work best in Product Design.

Every good product is build with hundreds of micro iterations.

Fixed fee projects create tension. If the founder does not like the direction or vision, they feel unsatisfied. If they iterate and revise too much, the designer loses motivation and kinda feels ripped off.

You can't expect to get unlimited revisions and directions with a fixed fee one off project.

Once trust is established both ways, retainers allows the founder to guide the product into the exact vision they have, and allows designers to do proper research and come up with creatives ideas throughout the entire engagement.

@duerrsimon You are right on this. Also, there is many freelancers who can’t even apply to jobs as its getting very expensive (connects) even to stay available and apply to the jobs.
