Imagine screaming of your innocence into what seems like a black hole - a society that could care less. Imagine writing to and begging dozens of attorneys to help you, being lucky if one bothers to write you back saying "sorry, can't help you but good luck". @JusticeForReece
This is what @JusticeForReece and I have dealt with for many years... The state stealing a person's life - an innocent person - should illicit as much offense, debate & outrage as these ridiculous azz gender wars or celeb stanning y'all engage in.

📌Despite arguing that Maurice was outside and other entered the home & killed the victims, the state NEVER named, arrested, charged, or convicted anyone for being the actual perpetrators.
📌Illegally seated judge
📌State gave jailhouse snitch time off his own sentence

📌Maurice was NOT convicted of killing anyone, the state's theory placed him outside in the supposed getaway car
📌*Special* Prosecutor appointed to get a conviction "By any means necessary" after the case was 2x dismissed due to LACK OF EVIDENCE

On this #WrongfulConvictionDay, lets learn about the case of #MauriceDavisSr, who suffered an injustice both unique & egregious. Maurice has been unjustly incarcerated for over 20 years & wrongfully convicted for over 19 years for crimes that he is #Innocent of

On this #WrongfulConvictionDay, we highlite the ongoing injustice that Maurice is experiencing. Despite his 20+ year fight to win his freedom from incarceration as an #Innocent person, we also amplify his work as a mentor, leader & president of the JCCC branch of the NAACP

🧵on #WrongfulConvictionDay about the case of #MauriceDavisSr (@JusticeForReece)
2-5% of incarcerated ppl are innocent. These justices need collective attention and advocacy. These could very well be your loved ones. Learn more about Maurice here https://t.co/EVau8QUzIe
Please join in wishing Reece a very happy 🎂! 🎊🎁🎉🎂🎊🎁🎉
He is an amazing & dedicated mentor and advocate for his inside community. We will continue the efforts to amplify his wrongful conviction so he can be exonerated & do the same for his community out here.
The substance abuse in Missouri Prisons is the outcome of unaddressed mental health conditions. For the system, addressing mental health is not profitable. But selling drugs in prisons is profitable for those within the ranks of the Dept. who control the distribution.
Maurice is an avid reader and researcher of legal issues. Banning loved ones from being able to purchase books to be mailed in by vendor will greatly affect him. He was able to become a paralegal with books that were mailed in by a vendor. This book ban will harm so many ppl
We join with advocates across the state to call out the egregious & deflective actions of MoDOC & to amplify the violations of constitutional rights that banning books actually is. Join us in calling out the Missouri prisons book ban.
Maurice talks about the harms of the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act (AEDPA) all the time. So many ppl are still being harmed by what Clinton & Biden did decades ago.

📌Under the influence of substances and overall incompetent defense Atty who was disbarred soon after Maurice's conviction - who the judge refused to allow Maurice to fire. His less serious cases were dismissed but not Maurice's.

A special thank you to State Rep @Manlove4M for her continued compassion & support of the carceral conditions in Missouri & the loved ones fighting for humane treatment. Also, Thx to all the formerly incarcerated advocates who show up to put a personal narrative on the issues.
#DayofEmpathy is a time to impart the necessity of empathy, compassion, & humanity into the discussions & policies around carceral conditions & crim court matters. Only those impacted can truly speak on the issues & the needed solutions.
Yesterday's Missouri #DayofEmpathy Legislative Advocacy Day was a success! We brought impacted ppl, loved ones & community advocates together to amplify #EmpathyAcrossTheNation! The 1st of a new annual tradition to bring carceral & crim court issues to our elected officials
