Your daily reminder that trans people have existed throughout history and across cultures. While we may not have been truly known by others, we truly know ourselves. #TransIsBeautiful
A far-right, white supremacist group, in masks, did a banner drop today in Kamloops, BC today asking “Got Bones?” ahead of Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Truly abhorrent, dangerous stuff.
The people in the QRTs going “well he deserved to die” bc they’re too dumb to think through the logical conclusion that if she’d known this would be the result she never would have told anyone and the abuse would have continued
when you hear that an unhoused person “refused services,” that sentence usually leaves out a ridiculous amount of context. maybe the shelter required them to give up their pet. maybe the available accommodation wasn’t safe for them because of their gender or sexuality. maybe they were expected to fit everything they own into two bags when their entire life is literally in those belongings. refusing one specific option doesn’t necessarily mean refusing help. sometimes the options being offered simply aren’t safe, accessible or realistic.

Macklemore says Robert Kraft rallied NFL owners to get him kicked off Ed Sheeran’s tour by threatening to withhold access to their stadiums as concert venues, and that Sheeran ultimately relented so as not to “take sides.” Sucks but at least Kraft got his happy ending.
unfortunately this is how a lot of people perceive refugees. just because you come from a war-torn place, then your entire life revolves around it. god forbid you want to indulge in a “luxury” and feel normal about your life.
the most commonly heard argument for reading great books is that they develop empathy. maybe that's true. but i think it's less appreciated that they also teach you humility: that you're not that smart, you're not that special, and someone has had all your ideas before
Celebrities performing in the UAE and doing commercials to promote tourism to Dubai, is exactly the same as doing it for Israel. Both countries are commiting genocide of the Indigenous people to steal their land and resources, and both trade with eachother to do it.

The unspoken thing here is that the jaw drop is not actually due to the scale of the dust plume but specifically because it is happening in New York. The same video taken in Beirut or Tehran would never get the same reaction from the viewer.
When people ask why Sudanese people focus so heavily on the UAE, this is why. The UAE has waged a war against Sudan’s sovereignty and its people at every level, from the battlefield to the information war.
