During a minute silence in Amsterdam for the victims of the Valencia floods, fans of the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv sang "There's no school in Gaza cause we've killed all the kids"
In the last week, Labour hit a crucial milestone on getting rid of hereditary peers, unlocked £1bn funding for social housing insulation, initiated plans to regulate buy-now-pay-later lenders and started to coalesce around an HS2 replacement. Barely any chat about this at all.
The vaccine he is referring to is the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine - sponsored by EU funds, developed in the EU (a Turkish company, BioNTech, in Germany), trialled in the EU, then shipped from the EU to the UK.
The EMA started assessing that vaccine before the MHRA did (and held more data), but the MHRA decided to make a call on its safety before the EMA. They made that call on Dec 2nd 2020 (see link below). At that date, the UK was still in the Single Market for Medicines, so the emergency approval happened under EU law, as stated by the Head of the MHRA (June Raine) at the time.
Upon approval, the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine was immediately available to the UK, because the EU had allowed for this availability worldwide. This was unlike the AstraZenica vaccine that shortly followed, where the EU had booked millions of doses, but the UK had done a later contract with AZ ensuring they could not ship out of the UK without UK govt permission - which they withheld for the EU.
Therefore, Brexit was not a factor in the UK speed of the vaccine approval - which all happened under EU law.

@supertanskiii@EdmundAvalon Still see them but possibly fewer than in the past. What most infuriates me is having to keep changing status of posts I'm reading to see 'all responses' rather than 'most relevant' because am hoarse from shouting WHO FUCKING DECIDES WHAT IS RELEVANT at my phone.
@OlderthanElvis The worst situations are those where you'll feel bad/wrong/stressed however you deal with them. You have my sympathies and a virtual hug.
@OlderthanElvis No, absolutely not over reacting, I would feel exactly the same. I hope I'd also be strong enough to say that was why I didn't want them to return but haven't been faced with the situation so it's easy for me to say that.
@OlderthanElvis Am on FB, also thinking will look again at Threads. I do miss the days when twitter was a mixed bag of information, fascination and stimulation with a healthy dose of daft fun and not just a voice piece for power mad little jugginses!

Reform has five MPs.
Three used to work in the City of London (including one for Lehman Brothers).
One is a property magnate.
One is paid £100k a year as a GB News presenter.
This is apparently a “party of the people”
