Journal publication is a multi-billion industry… and this article estimates that academics donate at least $1.5b annually in labor to support the current enterprise. Write papers, donate reviews, often pay for publication. What a model. https://t.co/Twf4s8SULQ HT @atulbutte
This is so refreshing on so many levels.
If you can, give this🧵by @ADAlthousePhD a read. If you’re in research - whether you’re new or a veteran, a statistician, medical writer, epidemiologist, public health policy writer… this message is👌🏻!!

Thread on relationships between researchers and statistical consultants. Prompted by a few recent tweets, but not only those as this is a recurring and always-relevant conversation.
Excited to share our work at #AHA21 highlighting the high prevalence of financial hardship from medical bills among non-elderly adults with obesity in the US.
Grateful for the mentorship and collaboration! @YaleCardiology@HMethodistCV@AHAMeetings

Equity… I wonder if the US gov't should identify an essential medication list… meds which provide meaningful value in improving outcomes… and then commit that no person should be precluded from their benefit because of their financial status. Eliminate the disparity potential.
Re: ASCVD ➡️where are we ✅, and where can we do better?
With the tsunami of info available, can screening/decision tools like CAC *still* have a place in our clinical and public health convos, w/patients and among healthcare professionals?
🧵by the great @miguelcainzos23
We often read about an "increasing burden of ASCVD" in USA
This argument may be used to make the case for the need for earlier pharmacological interventions in larger populations, including young folks w CAC=0
But, is this burden statement accurate?
Brief epi tweetorial [1/n]
Hard to believe how many jumped in today to kill CAC in young adults with chest pain after the JAMA Card paper
Wording on abstract not brilliant, but results quite telling
If you're young & CAC=0, obstructive CAD is very rare, even w symptoms
If anything, reassuring data
Was having a rough day. Mentioned it to my wife who was in her car driving Raghav somewhere. They both heard me. An hour later, I get this text… from one who has to struggle every day. He put things in perspective…

Yesterday, I learned that another team member @Yale will be returning to their home country.
The apathy towards immigrants not seeing families due to arbitrary restrictions threatens US leadership in innovation for years to come. My thoughts on @Medium.
