This morning I went through Philippians 2 in Codex Sinaiticus. Within this passage is what is referred to as the "Carmon Christi" - a hymn to Christ as to God. Most who study this passage believe it to be a snippet of a hymn that Paul quotes in his letter to the church in Philippi. A hymn that would have predated Paul, that his audience would have been well acquainted with.
This morning however, I paralleled it from the ISV, not a translation I usually read. The translators of the ISV took a different take to this particular passage and paraphrase the text so that it would resemble more of the rhyming couplets we find in the original language. A very interesting take on the text.
Philippians 2:6-11 is an interesting passage, not only because of how early it is believed to be but because it parallels a passage from Hebrew Scripture. God declares in Isaiah 48 that He gives His glory to no one, and in Isaiah 45: 23 it declare that it is to Yahweh that “every knee will bow and every tongue with confess.” This early hymn makes a direct parallel, if you look at the Old Testament text next to the New the hymn is unequivocally equating Jesus with Yahweh God.

@SamWebb77@mgoblog as a conservative, I completely support you voicing left leaning opinions on the round table. Just wish we had a moderate on the table also.
Hard truth: the only way to control & reduce government spending so we no longer have huge deficits is by addressing social security and Medicare spending. But no politician of either party will tell you this because if they do, you won’t elect them.
Aaron Rodgers makes fun of celebrity political endorsements, says the best is when those same celebrities are bought and paid for by China. LeBron, clear target here. Love it:
