Panchayat Raj Engineering Department

1. Established Control Centers at Head office and District Offices. Control rooms
are also formed at division and sub division levels for monitoring the damages
& restoration from time to time.
2. Field teams are visiting the flood affected sites to assess the damages and
identifying the immediate steps for restoration.
3. All the Superintending Engineers & DPREOs along with their field Engineers
are alerted to keep their men and machinery ready to attend any emergency
situations. Field Officers have already mobilized the required men & machinery
at vulnerable locations.

4. The Field Officers have taken precautionary measures in avoiding movement
on identified vulnerable points such as culverts, low lying roads and weak
bridges and wherever water is overflowing the Roads/CD works.
⚫ One such vulnerable point identified - Bridge on Tammileru vagu near
Chennampeta of Chatrai Mandal, Eluru district. Precautionary measures
taken using sand bags to avoid breach to the bridge.
5. Surface Damages & Breaches are reported from 3 districts - Eluru, Krishna &
NTR
6. Surface damages to a length of 73.78 KM are reported. However, there is no
traffic interruption on these roads.
7. So far Eighteen breaches are reported and action is being initiated by mobilizing
the machinery & material for restoration
⚫ Two breaches in Eluru district & one breach in Krishna district are restored.
8. 5 CD works are damaged and they will be restored after receding of flood water.
Public is utilizing other alternate routes

• CPWS scheme to Movva covering 44 habitations of Movva , Pamuru,
Pedaparapudi, Pamidimukkala and Thotlavalluru mandals for which the
Intake well source located at ILURU village in Krishna River is submerged
and hence pumping stopped.
At present water is being supplied through individual PWSS and Borewells
• CPWS scheme to Yanamalakuduru and other habitations in Penamaluru
mandal covering 15 habitations which has Infiltration Well as Source
submerged in flood and also Transformer yard was submerged in flood and
hence pumping stopped. At present water is being supplied through local
Sources.
➢ Rehabilitation Centers:
• 56 Rehabilitation centres are established so far in 4 Districts
NTR District -17 Centres
Krishna District -15 Centres
Bapatla District - 6 Centres
Guntur District -18 Centres
In all Rehabilitation centres Drinking Water is provided through tankers/ water
packets / water cans from R.O Plants adequately.

Instances happened and action taken :
➢ Guntur District:
▪ S.S Tank breached in Pedakakani Mandal of Guntur District. Still breach
portion is under water and detailed loss can be arrived only after receding
of the water which will take 2 to 3 days. Water supply is restored temporarily
by utilising borewells and direct pumping from Guntur channel and water is
being released to the public.
➢ Eluru District:
▪ For Ramnagar habitation of Nuziveedu mandal Gravity main was washed
away and the scheme will be restored by 03.09.2024. Currently temporary
water supply is restored through tankers.
➢ NTR District :
▪ 6 CPWS schemes covering 119 habitations whose sources is filter points (
shallow borewells) are inundated in Munneru River.
At present water is restored utilising local Borewell source and R.O plants
are also in working condition. Soon after receding of flow of water in
Munneru River actual damage will be assessed.
▪ 3 CPWS schemes covering of 62 habitations whose sources is filter points
( shallow borewells) in Krishna River in Jaggaiahpeta mandal are
inundated.
At present water is restored utilising local Borewell source and
R.O plants are also in working condition. Soon after receding
of flow of water in Krishna River actual damage will be assessed.

RURAL WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION DEPARTMENT

Precautionary Measures taken:

➢ Immediately after receiving alert message, a control room is opened at ENC
Office, all SE Offices and all DREO Offices in all Districts.
➢ A WhatsApp group is created with members as ENC, CE’s SE’s, DREO’s and
EE’s including Principal Secretary PR&RD for better communication and
reporting system.
➢ Instructions were issued up to Officers till the last level to take preventive measures
& relief measures immediately duly following Standard Operating Procedures for
pre, during and post disaster such as :
• To maintain sufficient stock of bleaching powder in all habitations so
as to Chlorinate water being supplied.
• To take action to provide Super Chlorination in flood affected areas
duly maintaining Chlorination level up to 2.00 Ppm to 3.00Ppm
instead of 0.50Ppm usually done so as to control all water
contamination and also water borne diseases.

Panchayat Raj Department

• District Panchayat Officers and Chief Executive Officers, Zilla Parishads are kept on
high alert and prepared for immediate response in all districts
• Mandal Level and District Level Control Rooms with teams for immediate response
were kept ready
• Regular monitoring and co-ordination with all districts is ensured by Teleconferences
every 6 hours
• 300 special teams with all required manpower, materials and equipment for immediate
sanitation are ready for deployment to assist existing manpower across the
panchayats.
• 32 teams have been requested for deployment in NTR and Krishna Districts tomorrow
and will be deployed tomorrow.
• Each team comprises of 3 Sanitation workers also capable of OHSR cleaning, 1
Electrician, 1 Plumber with respective equipment (High pressure cleaning machines,
bush cutters, ropes, electrician and plumbing tool kits etc) and material (Bleaching
powder, Chlorine liquid, Lime, Molathine, Sodium chlorate, Phenyl etc)
• Timely cleaning of drains, overhead service reservoirs, tanks to prevent spread of
water-borne and vector-borne diseases is being monitored through PROne Dashboard
• Garbage heaps clearing is also being tracked on top priority
