I realized that I am both affected by and contribute to the constant flow of information online. As a graphic designer, I learned through this course that I am part of the key factor of the digital age that is prosumption. #DigiTechS22B
@kwrutgers20 With the Great Resignation, people begin to realize that they can do the same work at home, which would cause more office environments to be moved to virtual spaces like Zoom. From the companies' viewpoint, it's also economical as they no longer need a physical office to pay for.
@JillianJDCIM The capabilities of AI will get to a point where they will begin outperforming humans in tasks. They are able to see and calculate solutions that would take considerably more time with people.
@GuerrieroOlivia The affordability of smartphones has also significantly improved. Before, they were a status symbol to be able to own a smartphone, but now, a stigma has developed on flip phones with those still using one being seen as out-of-touch with technology.
I think the Metaverse going to happen, but just not how Facebook is making it out to be. There is no demand for a virtual replica of the world, but there is a demand for virtual reality spaces such as healthcare, gaming, data collection, and construction. #DigiTechS22B
@dhavnag_ I look forward to learning more about the Metaverse! It's such a new story in technology development and it has lots of potentials, but I agree with how it can be scary since there are many dystopian movies and books out there that talk about this type of technology.
@kwrutgers20 I think it would also be interesting if you dive into the culture that Zoom has created as well as maybe the disadvantages of Zoom with its risk to personal privacy and data security.
@AndrewCarchio The gaming industry is growing at an extreme rate today and with the development of VR technology and Facebook's Metaverse, another level of a virtual social and cultural life can emerge through VR games.
The technology I will be researching for my EDTP will be drone delivery. Amazon Prime delivery outmatches longtime postal services, but what if it was faster with drones? Though they can also help the climate, they challenge jobs and individual privacy. #DigiTechS22B
@JillianJDCIM I feel like face filters have come a long way to the point where you may not even be able to distinguish whether there is a filter or not. It can substitute plastic surgery and its permanency, while it could also influence others to get surgery to look like their filters.
@PandyaUrjaa The fact that older generations are using smartphones gives us a good idea as to how important it is to own one nowadays. Older cell phones have become almost obsolete. Elderly people are essentially forced to use smartphones now if they want to talk to friends and family.
@rukaitlynrose I can definitely relate to this first-hand. The pandemic certainly accelerated the use of technology to complete everyday errands and now, it has become the norm. I do not see it dying down any time soon because of how efficient it is as supposed to physical travel.
Remote work has been the trend ever since COVID-19 brought the office to your home. Workers want to stay home, but the managers want them back. The social norm is strong now, but it's uncertain if it will remain. #DigiTechS22B https://t.co/nAFAl4TozB
