@_samantha_joy Also reading books exposes babies to new and different speech sounds in complete syntactic context. Just pointing to "apple" "ball" etc doesn't help them develop an ability to understand how words combine with other words to form sentences.

@_samantha_joy A lot easier to build vocab when babies understand than language is fun. Reading with mom and dad is fun, looking at interesting pictures while hearing goofy voices is fun, connecting imagination to the real world is fun.

@nienna121 My son was a decent sleeper until he hit 3.5 months, then boom I was up with him every 1-2 hours until he hit 7 months. At 2 months I was like "hooray we got an easy one!" 🤣🤣🤣

@holy_schnitt Fwiw when i was recovering postpartum, i didn't want to eat anything spicy or too big on flavors for several weeks-- only wanted gentle/bland food. Dunno if other moms had this experience too.
