A wonderful day for Reading's #PlatinumJubilee Waterfest including Ukrainian dancing, canal boats and huge numbers of stalls and entertainment.
Thank you to everyone who has made today so special for #Rdguk
We're getting about a bit at the moment – here's @KnowlesEric turning the lock at Newbury, and recently the @CanalRiverTrust publication had a photo of @brianblessed raising the paddles at Padworth Lock. Fancy crewing on one of our trip boats? Full training provided!😉
@drthatch Thanks Don. Navigation problems can be reported to the Canal and River Trust (@CRTContactUs) who manage the waterways. Hopefully all is well cleared and passable by now given the winds have calmed down!
Look who turned up at Hanham Lock near #Bristol This seal pup had been tagged in Scotland on June 21 and travelled to the Old Lock & Weir Inn’s front door! He went to RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre in Taunton to be cared for, soon to be released back into the sea. #KennetAndAvon
New Year's Eve from the easternmost part of the K&A. That's Reading's High Bridge in the distance, and the river beyond that is so windy and narrow that it's governed by traffic lights!
Two for the price of one today. Great Walk and Small Walk Rennie footbridges over the Kennet and Avon canal within the scenic Sydney Gardens, Bath. Cast iron bridges with masonry abutments. Check them out on our Rennie map https://t.co/ToYLb5AGKW #JohnRennie2021
Kennet and Avon canal completed by opening Caen Hill Locks, Devizes #onthisday 1810. Engineer John Rennie, these images come from Rennie's notebook in our archive but owned by Smeatonian Society. Check out our John Rennie website and map https://t.co/ToYLb5AGKW
Hi @CRTWalesandSW - are you aware of this? Presume the bridge is your jurisdiction not the local authority's? (cc: @WestBerkshire)
