There's no issue quite like animal rights for showing people up for who they really are.
No matter how egalitarian you might think you are, anti-discrimination starts on your dinner plate.
The fact that almost EVERY former confederate state is moving to completely eliminate Black representatives almost immediately after the SCOTUS decision should be more than enough proof that voting rights still need protection and racism is far from gone in this country.
If this were one of the pop girls this would be the biggest story on stan twt for the day. The big pop pages won’t cover this story either @PopBase@PopCrave
I hate this take. It’s very stupid for multiple reasons
1) To eat the amount of meat that we do factory farm is a necessity.
2) Indigenous practices still require the taking of life without consent.
3) Many indigenous cultures drove many animal species to full/near extinction
Do you think the meat industry would exist without meat eaters? Who do you think they are committing the abuse for?
It’s for you, so you can have your hamburger
yes i love animals soooo much let me just eat the dead flesh of those same animals that were all just mass slaughtered and also experienced severe pre-slaughter trauma, pain and suffering during transportation without food and water yessss i love animals soooo much
@svershbow crazy to me that so many people can react this way to dogs being rescued but pay money to eat tortured, slaughtered carcasses of over animals. every animals deserves to live its life free from human exploitation.
I wish you could appreciate how evangelical and aggressive meat eaters are and how they've rigged the system so that meat is subsidised by the state and how it's been made central to their identities in obsessive ways and how they take it as offensive to not eat meat with them.
@cachavaa@ogc2025 god forbid you live in line with your morals. she said you can’t love animals and eat meat. if you love animals, to live in line with your morals would be to not eat their tortured, slaughtered bodies or pay money for their rape.
@GhostSpoiler Vegans piss you off because they remind you of your hypocrisy. Claiming to be anti-capitalist without changing anything about your daily life is just performative activism.
@lardbotomy@obviouslacking I was asking you about your story specifically. you have no way to defend your eating habits because you know it’s wrong and don’t want to admit to being a hypocrite. I think it’s fine to tell ppl whose eating habits include torture and murder are wrong.
@lardbotomy@obviouslacking the argument was you can’t love animals and also pay to consume their tortured, slaughtered bodies. you cannot love the thing you murder for your own enjoyment. if you are happy with that choice then be happy with that choice!
i think a lot of leftists are so weirdly defensive about veganism because it’s the one thing they can’t be performative about as it requires actual habitual changes instead of just retweeting useless petitions on twitter dot com
every meat eater who talks about "respecting the animal" being part of the process always sounds like a deranged psychopath without fail I'm gonna be honest
i prefer when non vegans/omnivores who could switch to plant based are honest and admit that the very reason why they still consume animal products is taste, convenience, laziness etc. no mental gymnastics to justify it and i at least appreciate it
"Veganism isn't inherently morally superior, the problem is capitalism"
Well, I'm not moralizing, but if you think you're somehow going to be able to eat meat three times a day without capitalism and its attendant ecocide, imperialism, and exploitation, I've got some bad news
I think there’s something especially evil about non-vegans talking about indigenous people whenever they see vegans talk about veganism.
Dragging indigenous people into this constantly repeated discourse to justify your own eating habits and trying to one-up vegans is vile.
