Lucy is happy because I am finally sitting outside with her. She balled me out in husky speak until I did.
She’s like this is sitting weather the first in months now sit hooman. I spent the day mowing and cleaning up the property and all I want is a shower but she is a good girl and if she wants some sitting time first, she gets it.
Dorothy sat with her a bit but she's like, "no, I want dad". 😝
🚨 Sticky Words Sunday 🚨
Win the DETAILS -PNR
1. SCREEN ANGLES. Angle influences coverage. Flat angle for guard to guard to prevent switch. Low side forcing over 1-5 to create a 2 on 1 (low side angle). Square angle means your wanting a switch.
2. SPRINT TO SCREEN. Puts the screeners defender out of position when they attempt to neutralize advantage with coverage.
3. RACE-READ-RACE. . Changing the pace of the screen allows decision making to occur + keeps the defense guessing. One speed is easy to guard (whether fast or slow).
4. SHIN ANGLES. Ball handler must use a sprinters stance to get vertical. Amateur/low level players move horizontally at the first sign of resistance. Elite players get vertical using a sprinters stance or SHOW vertical if the coverage neutralizes the advantage.
5. POCKET PASS. One handed bounce vs leaving the ground to pass or attempting to go over top of the D.
6. PASSING ANGLES. Great PGs understand where the seal or rim run is and what angle to use (or to pass to another player) for a better angle.
7. AIM TO MISS. If the ball handler has an advantage before the screen then ‘aim to miss’ no need to create an advantage for one that is there. Speed up the 2 on 1.
8. LOW MAN/TAGGER. Ball handlers eventually feel the POA coverage look to the second level. If the tagger is early, the skip or dunkers spot is open, if they are late then it’s the 2 on 1.
9. 0.5 DECISION MAKING. Probably the biggest mistake ball handlers make is holding on to the ball in a neutral spot for too long or turn nothing into something. This should only occur in EOG/EOC spots. Move the ball.
10. SPACING. Understand what an angle PnR vs a Spread ball screen is. Stretch the help, and at higher levels remove the low man with player movement via exit screen, Spain, wide pin, etc.

Spotlight Player OTD: Al Jefferson
Al Jefferson was the last of a dying breed by the time he got to Charlotte as a free agent in the summer of 2013.
In a world transitioning to more 3-point shooting, Charlotte hired Steve Clifford, signed Al Jefferson, and decided to do the exact opposite: a highly skilled big and a budding PG still working on his shot in Kemba Walker.
The last Bobcats team ever was a true inside-out squad built on Jefferson’s ability to draw doubles consistently on the low block and play out of it, and that’s exactly what they did.
Kemba drew doubles at his best and on his hottest nights, and so did LaMelo, but if Al Jefferson was healthy and had an empty side post touch with his defender on an island?
He was drawing a double. No questions asked, someone was sending help. The times teams didn't, it felt almost inevitable he was going to score.
Jefferson was the last player Charlotte’s had who could draw doubles like Al could at a genuinely All-NBA level — no pun intended, as Jefferson did finish All-NBA 3rd Team in 2013-14.
Before Kemba Walker made the 3rd team, it was Al.
And before Al was in Charlotte, it all started in Boston for him when he went 15th overall to Boston coming out of high school.
Al was dominant coming out as a McDonald's All-American from Mississippi:
His senior year of high school, he averaged 42 PPG, 18 REB, and 7 BLKs a night.
He was a second-team All-Rookie member after his rookie year and had contributed in Boston’s 2005 playoff push but struggled against the Pacers' defense as Indiana beat Boston.
Most of that rookie season, though, Jefferson and fellow rookie Tony Allen (what a draft class) were on the bench as rotation players for Boston. The Celtics were 13-4 in games where Al had 10 or more points that year.
Jefferson had been the first high school player Boston took in the draft, and is one of only two all-time for Boston (Gerald Green).
In Al’s second season with Boston, the Celtics took a step back and so did Jefferson. Boston missed the playoffs altogether, and Al missed 33 games with a meniscus tear.
Going into the summer league before Al’s third season — he’d reportedly lost 30 (!) whole pounds to help get his conditioning to an elite level. But Jefferson would have ankle injuries during summer league, found out he had bone spurs, and had to have surgery to get them removed.
Jefferson had surgery, and later that year, Kendrick Perkins got hurt. Al moved into a starting role, and would end that year as Boston’s second-best scorer. He looked like a future star.
Paul Pierce didn’t think so it seemed. He didn’t say that, I’ll be clear, but Pierce was frustrated with multiple bad Celtic seasons and griped publicly about wanting to play on a contender.
In July of 2007, Al Jefferson was sent to Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Garnett as the Celtics began their title contention push.
It was undoubtedly a bad return for Minnesota given the level Garnett was at, but Jefferson did turn into one of the best C’s in the league with the Wolves.
He immediately signed a 5-year extension with Minnesota, and didn’t pursue a max contract because Jefferson had publicly said he hadn’t felt he was deserving of one yet.
That first year in Minnesota he was one of four guys to average 20 and 10, played and started in all 82 games (35.6 MPG), and had double-figure scoring in all but 3 games of 82.
He tied his (at the time) career high of 40 points in a game that first year where the Wolves LOST to Charlotte.
He’d spend 3 years in Minnesota as one of the best C’s in the league, but despite drafting Kevin Love, the Wolves would pass on Steph Curry later down the line and never really got it together.
Al did more of the same middle-of-the-road things while he was in Utah before coming to Charlotte, where he’d help lead the Bobcats to just their second-ever playoff berth.
CONT. BELOW HIGHLIGHTS/NEWSPAPERS:
Jason Willams tells a story how no defensive scheme could stop Kobe Bryant:
“Kobe Bryant, bro. All the defensive schemes the coaches tried to put together on game day or the week before, I never really said it to a coach but I’m like, “We’re wasting our time, dog we’re just wasting our time because he’s going to throw whatever that scheme we got to stop him that one play that’s the last time we will stop him on that play.” He’s going to figure out a way to beat it. The best way to go against Kobe Bryant is hope he misses.”
That is definitely got to be a tough thing to scheme for guys like Kobe Bryant you can scheme all you want and 9 times out of 10 it don’t matter you better just hope he misses some shots and make it tough on him.
There is nothing quite like watching a canine athlete launch into full flight during a DockDogs Big Air competition. The handler tosses a favorite bumper out over the water, and the dog sprints down the dock at top speed to see just how much distance they can clear before making a splash.
Official measurements are taken right where the base of the dog’s tail breaks the surface, ranking leaps across five competitive divisions :
•Novice: Under 10 feet
•Junior: 10’ to 14’ 11”
•Senior: 15’ to 19’ 11”
•Master: 20’ to 22’ 11”
•Elite / Super Elite: 23 feet and above
Watching that kind of horsepower soar through the air, they just might need a bigger pool next time. 🐶
Just had SEVEN dogs out for a walk. SEVEN. 😂
A beautiful long walk by the river, plenty of fresh air, and a small canine convoy to keep me busy.
And now I’m left with four. My golden duo, Albert and Bera, plus their biological little brothers, Arthur and Brodie, who are staying for the week while my parents galavant in the sunshine. 🌞
They’re off enjoying their holidays. I’m apparently running a small, unpaid dog hotel.
At least the guests are cute. 🐾

In basketball history, you can’t build a GREATER starting 5 than this:
Stephen Curry
Michael Jordan
LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Shaquille O’Neal
I challenge you to try.

⚠️ TW: Pet health issues
I've spent almost 7k in vet bills in the last few months alone and I have another appointment tomorrow and honestly thought I'd just ask the internet so I can suggest some things to my vet
*Please note I LOVE my vet, they truly are amazing and these bills are for both my dogs*
Angels right paw shakes really badly. She has low hormones which she's on medication for and she's on pain killers too. After 6 weeks I feel these aren't the issue and we're reevaluating tomorrow.
There seems to be zero discomfort and she walks on it just fine and even runs when she's happy with no issue.
Anyone have ideas I can mention to my vet tomorrow so I'm a bit more prepared and maybe less guess work? I'm not rich but I would give my limbs for my pups 😭
Draymond Green breaks down the Warriors starting lineup and RAVES about Yaxel Lendeborg 🤩:
“He really sees the floor sometimes too good. What I mean by sometimes too good is, Yaxel is a great scorer. He’s a really good scorer who ultimately has the potential to become a great scorer.
However, Yaxel has this issue that most scorers don’t have but some do — Jimmy Butler has the same issue — meaning they see the floor so well that when you want them to have tunnel vision and score, they see the floor so well.
That’s Yaxel!”
Kobe Bryant on why Jason Kidd was so difficult to guard ahead of the 2002 NBA Finals:
"Jason is tough to guard because he can get you nine points and still dominate a game. A person like that is incredibly tough to stop."
Phil Jackson's primary strategy:
"Get back and stop the ball. It doesn't matter who guards him. We've got to get back and stop the ball. That's the first rule against Jason Kidd."
Joel Embiid grew up in Cameroon playing volleyball and soccer and didn't pick up basketball until he was 15. By 20 he was the third pick in the 2014 draft, out of Kansas.

10.4.26 Play #1 | #LIGHTITUPNYL
It's hard to extrapolate a ton of Liberty's defensive scheme in Round 1, as they were intentional at forcing Miles' into floater shots -- a very, very specific approach. Atlanta's offense is built with a lot more rim presence, starting from Canada to the Howard/Gray wing duo, before rounding out with Reese down low. These two faced each other twice in September, with Atlanta taking both by double digits.
Angel Reese shot 22 FGA in the first season meeting, the only one NYL won, where this was intentional by Coach Johnson to force her into jumpers. In the two aforementioned games following, she picked up 2 fouls in both 1Q. Still, in the time with all starters on the floor, Reese was more selective with her shot selection.
Jonquel Jones notched 12 and 14 rebounds vs Atlanta in those two games despite the losses, and we just saw The Mystics' bigs notch solid numbers on the glass; Game 1 saw 14 & 16 Reb from Iriafen/Austin, followed by 16 Reb by Iriafen in Game 2.
