Magarpatta City: 20 years before and now!

Magarpatta was originally multiple plots of farms owned by a community called Magars. In 1982 the area was earmarked as Future Urbanisable Zone by PMC, so that PMC can easily take over the land for development. But to their surprise, 123 Magar families decided to come together and developed the land on their own. For that a company was formed and every family got a share of it as per their landholding. Magarpatta city is built on 430 acres of land.

The Pune Nagar Road is proving to be a death trap for commuters. So far 30 people have been killed in road accidents in the past few months. This includes 28 males and two females. Apart from this, 21 people have been seriously injured.

In the year 2022, 100 people lost their lives in road accidents within Lonikand police station limits. Citizens are accusing Pune city traffic police not acting against rash drivers and heavy vehicles.

The capacity of the Pune Ahmednagar highway is 40000 vehicles per day however 75000 vehicles ply everyday
