My friend had an absolutely disgraceful experience at VFS Global Japan (Hamarikyu Parkside Place Building, Tokyo) during his Hong Kong visa appointment.

What’s the point of booking an appointment if you’re made to wait endlessly? To make matters worse, the staff kept pushing paid “premium” services without clearly explaining that they were entirely optional.

Then came the photo requirement. His photos were suddenly deemed “unacceptable,” leaving him with no choice but to pay again for new ones at the centre. It feels less like customer service and more like a revenue-generation scheme.

Applicants already pay significant service charges expecting professionalism, transparency, and efficiency, not pressure tactics and unnecessary expenses.

The concerned authorities should investigate these practices thoroughly and ensure that VFS Global is held accountable for transparency, fair treatment, and basic respect for every visa applicant.
