Building Leadership, Organizing, and advocacy containers in Detroit, MI

Okay that’s cool info and all but why would we ever have encyclopedic knowledge of Terry Crews?💀💀💀

[MaxB @MegaMaxing]

The funniest part is people thinking Terry Crews being this good at drawing is random. 😭

He had an Art SCHOLARSHIP before a football scholarship, worked as a courtroom sketch artist in Flint, and when NFL teams cut him, he sold portraits to teammates for around $5,000 to help support his family.

Acting is not where the talent started. Drawing was paying bills before Hollywood ever knew his name.

[Lion (Flip you like…) @Champ_Lion]

Curry gonna hit a three and I'm gonna have to hear this bullshit going into the commercial

[Art Reyes III @ArtReyesIII]

Tired. Long ass week. But god damn I work with some incredible Gen X, Y & Z organizers that are just kicking some ass right now. It’s a beautiful & energizing thing.

I’ll take tired but full hearted any day.

[Art Reyes III @ArtReyesIII]

Standing room only at the @MichiganPSC meeting tonight. The people are clear: no rate increases for investor-owned utility DTE Energy. Read why we’re pissed at https://t.co/3XJm8xfl0K @WeThePeople_MI @weareMEJC @Soulardarity @Detroit_Action @MichiganUnited @moses_mi @momjustice

[Tara Raghuveer @taraghuveer]

95% of organizing isn't seen in public: Prepping meeting agendas, setting up folding chairs, arranging rides and childcare, training on theory and practice, evaluating everything. The remaining 5% is only possible if this foundation is sound.

[Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition @weareMEJC]

MEJC is proud and excited to announce Jamesa Johnson Greer as the new Executive Director of @weareMEJC She'll be leading the charge on #climate and #energy justice for Michigan's ever growing #environmentaljustice family!

DETROIT: come out to vote today until 8PM like our organizer @kamaujclark. What’s on the ballot?

🗳 Proposal P, the people’s charter for & by the people
🗳@denzmccampbell for city clerk - our endorsed candidate.

Any issues? Call the election protection hotline ☎️ 866-OUR-VOTE

[We the People Action Fund @WeThePeopleAF]

For too long, a handful of corporations have served interests of a wealthy few in Detroit instead of our communities’ needs - this time, by a f*ckton of $$$ behind anti-Prop P initiatives.

We see through this, & we’ll be fighting for all of us to have the resources we deserve.

[We the People Action Fund @WeThePeopleAF]

As candidates who've demonstrated their commitment to Black, brown & working class Detroiters, WTP Action Fund is proud to endorse:
✨@gabysantiromero for Detroit City Council District 6
✨@DenzMcCampbell for Detroit City Clerk!

🗣️➡️Vote on Aug. 3 for Denzel, Nov. 2nd for Gaby!

@manni_doee3 i think so. but also i think people stop seeking new information at a particular age. so everything that follows is to substantiate said information, not to refute it.

*taps mic*. Pleased to finally unveil my piece in the NYT about our work on unemployment and relief during this pandemic. https://t.co/zyzJTxC0EA

[Governor Gretchen Whitmer @GovWhitmer]

I am heartbroken at the news of my dear friend Benny’s passing. Sheriff Napoleon’s love for the people he served was returned many times over. His quick laugh, eager partnership, and candid counsel is what I will miss most. Sharon, Tiffani and his whole family are in my prayers.

[Kamau Clark @kamaujclark]

I RSVPd for the Jefferson-Chalmers Mainstreet Master Plan Meeting on eventbrite and can’t find the location or zoom link anywhere. 😓

[Kamau Clark @kamaujclark]

Still so incredibly proud of this body of work and the legs it’s had. Attention of this sort shows that this story is global and that the intention pumped into it has been felt. Rooting for it & rooting for Miles, as always.

[Miles N. Reuben @directormiles]

NILE made it to the finalist rounds of the Lonely Wolf International Film Festival! I’m crying in the club brb

[Kamau Clark @kamaujclark]

@kriscurtiss depends on the extent of the red flag and whether its worth pushing back. cause protect your peace by all means; once you exhaust it, a space can go from bothersome to insurmountable. we all need our peace rn especially 😭

[Kamau Clark @kamaujclark]

@nithin_vejendla Thanks!!!

[Kamau Clark @kamaujclark]

Today I started a new job as Southeast Organizer for We The People Michigan. Super excited to join the team and be an agent for change✨

[City of Detroit @CityofDetroit]

Due to the overwheleming positive response of the pilot speed hump installations in 2018, today Mayor Duggan announced that the City will triple the number of speed humps installed in neighborhoods next year to 4500.

Don't blame having a child for the need to buy a car.
Blame your city leaders for making it impossible to cycle with children.
