Who started Amar Chitra Katha?
It was Anant Pai.
Today is his birth anniversary.
Anant Pai or affectionately Uncle Pai was born in Karkala (Karnataka) on 17th Sept 1929

Once, while watching a quiz program, he noticed that kids were not able to answer the Q. "Who was Rama's mother?"

That inspired him to start Amar Chitra Katha. ACK taught many of us Puranas, history, and culture.

He lost both his parents at the age of two and was brought up by his grandparents. He has also written and produced a video film, -Ekam Sat (the Vedic Concept of God), in both English and Hindi.
