MAGA before the election: Vote for Trump because he’s the ‘peace candidate’ who will only focus on America and make the U.S. ‘respected again.’
Trump after the election: Let’s take over the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Gaza and make Canada part of the U.S.
In less than three weeks of the Trump presidency, the U.S. has already become a laughingstock on the world stage.
The measles outbreak in Texas is because of RFK Jr’s anti-vaccine profiteering.
2 cases jumped to 20 in 2 weeks, all unvaccinated, mostly kids.
Measles was eliminated in the US in 2000 because of vaccines. RFK Jr’s lies reduce vaccine rates & cause PREVENTABLE outbreaks.

Imagine running a restaurant & suddenly only having budget for ingredients & chefs—no rent, electricity, heat, water, support staff, insurance, trash, toilet paper.
This is what 'cutting indirects' did to every major biomedical center & hospital in the US.

I've no words. This is truly devastating:
'“All of the data for HIV is gone. Normally there’s a menu for medical professionals,” but that has disappeared, says Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at the University of Saskatchewan who says she was up until 2 a.m.
@kylegriffin1 This might be the time to remind people that it took Hitler only 53 days to dismantle the German government and democracy.

@micheal_olainn@cb_hagen@BBCNews And didn’t the studies have issues with complete masking compliance among the participants? So that ‘weak evidence’ also reflects the difficulty of conducting fully controlled research in this area?

“I don’t think the majority of scientists who were looking at this early in 2020 or at the end of 2019 expected that, four years later, we’d be dealing with unrelenting waves of variants, which are immune evasive,” Razak said.

Just called the Premier's office to register my anger at the short sighted decision to close the Science Centre and move it to Ontario Place. You can call too: 416-325-1941 and tell him what you think. 📲☎️📞

Folks, someone just reached out to me to say this (xxxxx to protect identity)
“…I work with dozens of xxxxx on a regular basis and the impact of Covid is evident and alarming. We've had many xxxxx with formerly stellar performance suddenly begin struggling and dropping the ball on all their work, people forgetting conversations and losing track of their train of thought regularly, and of course the constant waves of illness throughout all our teams. Have even had a couple team leads have to step down because they literally couldn't perform the role anymore.
Of course, I can't definitively say it's all from Covid, but it's clear that certain folks are suffering some form of Long Covid. Additionally, some have ongoing major health issues that seem unusual given their young age. I have a few other Covid-cautious friends in leadership roles at other large companies and they're seeing a similar pattern. Massive amounts of sick leave being taken and just general poor performance across the board”
If repeatedly getting infected with a brain-damaging, vascular disease that attacks your immune system and may never leave your body doesn't trigger a high alert to avoid infection, I don't know what will. 🤷♂️
It’s remarkable that the basic scientific literacy and simple compassion Ed Yong is embodying here is so uncommon among his professional peers. Journalism is nearly dead.
Good video for the denialists in your life treating you as shitty ableists do.
The reason that the CDC are telling cattle farmers to mask using n95 masks is because they work to reduce risk of transmission of airborne viruses.
They're not doing any studies on it because the science is ALREADY COMPLETELY SOLID.
Myths / misconceptions cont'd:
❌ That a pathogen becoming endemic means it is no big deal. Also endemic: malaria, tuberculosis, measles, etc.

My jaw is on the floor over this investigation by @PattiSonntag — BNTX edited data about its covid rapid tests (the green ones in the photo that were everywhere a year ago!) in a way that made it appear more reliable to Health Canada than it actually was

As a clinical health psychologist, I notice that many people are using psychological defense mechanisms to downplay the risk of COVID.
These are my Top 7 examples:

@michael_hoerger On the flipside, how would you hypothise the origin of response of people who stay aware and mitigate fully? Who do everything to avoid infection? And whom stay on top of developments? What makes them different? Would you have a few scenario's or personality types, coping styles?
