Just love. Hate cannot thrive if we love. Thoughts and prayers aren't enough. Our love needs to be actionable. Let's use our voices, our hands, our lives to be love.
One tiny bit of good news in the tragedy. "For the last half-decade or so, an architectural historian named Andrew Tallon worked with laser scanners to capture the entirety of the cathedral’s interior and exterior in meticulous 3D point clouds." https://t.co/FTa9ApibH3
With the world in turmoil we need the calming beauty of our art, culture and our powerful historic architecture. For this reason the loss of the beautiful Notre Dame just now strikes us to our very souls, horribly so for the French and for people of faith.
We are deeply saddened by the tragic fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, a treasure of the world's cultural heritage. We extend our sympathies to the people of France and all those who were actively working to preserve its art and architecture.
It is a deep and profoundly sad tragedy that such an awesome product of human ingenuity and artistic achievement has met so sad a fate – especially one that means so much to so many people. Paris is in our thoughts tonight. https://t.co/VH8inl12gz
French police say the next hour is crucial to containing damage to the Notre Dame. The fire has already destroyed the main spire and roof.
They are focusing on saving artworks and stopping the north tower from collapsing.
In Paris, people gathered in plazas and street corners, eyes trained on the all-consuming fire at the Notre Dame cathedral. The rest of the world gathered via screens big and small. United in helplessness. Unsure of what to say. But compelled to watch. https://t.co/hUmHF3Q3LC
Breaks my heart this extraordinary building is burning. When I took this photo it reminded me of ghosts roaming the streets around Notre Dame Cathedral. I can’t imagine the tales both horrid and glorious this structure could tell in the 700 years she’s stood. #NotreDameCathedral
Watching #NotreDame de Paris in flames is shocking and heartbreaking. The Notre-Dame belongs to Paris, France, Europe and all humanity. My prayers tonight are with the French people and with all those fighting the fire. We share your pain.
Praying during this Holy Week for the safety of the firefighters working to contain the flames at Notre Dame Cathedral and for the future of this beautiful monument to faith. I always gasp every time I see the cathedral because it is truly stunning.
"Our viewers all around the world are joined in watching the death of something beautiful."
@ChrisCuomo, as fire engulfs Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.
"We all want and need beautiful things in the world ... unfortunately, there will be one less."

Horrible images online of the fire at Notre Dame. 850 years of history destroyed in 4 hours. Deeply saddened to hear this. Shouldn't there be quicker, more efficient emergency management for such incidents in first world countries? But what do I know. I'm just so sad!
